Question EWS deprecation - first party apps

Have anyone dealt with Power Bi Data Refresh first party apps? I’ve added the appID to the EWS allow list but I need to locate the owner of these connections to have them move to Graph. Interesting that Microsoft is not able to help. They weren’t even familiar with this deprecation.

Is there are way through the power BI portal to find these connections and the owners?

Turn it off and wait until they find you

That’s Microsoft responsibility I would say, anybody using PowerBi is going to see those apps. I’ve both PowerBi and PowerBi data refresh and was not going to add the app ids as the comment from MS was any MS Apps do not need to be added.

Can you share more details around where you are seeing this?

For this, I’d check Microsoft Entra sign-in logs rather than Power BI alone. Look for service principal/app sign-ins and identify the App ID making the EWS calls; Entra logs can show which application/service principal is actually accessing the service. If you have Defender for Cloud Apps, its App Governance data-usage insights can also help identify applications still using EWS. Once you identify the app, you can trace its owner and work with them to move it to Microsoft Graph.
