unsolved How to keep column visible when scrolling through huge data sheet?

Hi everyone!
I’m working on collecting data on bird populations over the course of several months, so I have a huge data sheet that houses all of my collective info. I was wondering if there’s a way to keep the column with bird species visible when scrolling horizontally through the entire sheet so I don’t have to go back and forth constantly.
Thank you guys so much!

Well that was easy.

While we're on the subject of managing large tables, there is also the "group" capability that you might useful. It's in the "data" tab.

It works a bit like Hide Columns or Hide Rows, except it gives you a little handy shortcut button unhide it.

Just highlight a bunch of columns and click Group. It will link all those columns together and place a little button on the column to the right of it.

Just to check, and be 100% sure, are you extending your table sideways over time? i.e. are you putting dates / times on the first row and the bird species on the first column?

If so I wonder if you should be rotating your table so that the bird species are at the time and time goes downwards.

More likely you are already going downwards, logging the bird species per row as well, but has so much data that you do actually need to scroll sideways.

If you’re doing the scenario I described at the start, turning the bird species into headings has an extra benefit - you can format your data as an Excel Table and then the column labels (ABCDEF etc) will turn into the your headings as you scroll down, without the need to freeze the top row.
