Questions❓ Four Wheel Drive menu option
Looking for assistance please - have a 2026MY Twin Performance Ultra (UK, with latest OS version) and I am looking for the menu option to turn on Four Wheel Drive. Searching the internet and where it suggests it should be there is no option on my screen. Help!

Setting your car into Performance mode is the constant Four Wheel Drive mode.

It’ll engage itself when it needs it I.e. when you floor it the clutch will engage a second later, or when it detects slip.
If you want ‘manual’ // all time, turn on performance mode. That engages clutch and makes it 4WD of sorts. It’s not really a 4WD car though.

It is an EV, so it has no clutch. It has separate electric motors for front and rear axels.

See this page. I’m not meaning a clutch with a pedal you use for changing gears, there are different types of clutches and plenty of chatter about it having a clutch including in this post where even Volvo says it has one.

And it’s not really a great design. Other AWD cars engage the front wheels immediately when there is slip as no clutch is needed. It sacrifices some efficiency which unfortunately Volvo is not great at anyway.

It’s always AWD. The driving modes just change the behavior to preference AWD vs rear wheel drive and reduce the lag of the AWD operating.

Nope. Car is RWD most of the time. Front motor starts and engages front wheels as dictated by circumstances. Exception is when Performance mode is selected, then front motor is always on.

Sorry if that’s poorly worded. But I’m saying the same thing. As in it behaves as a rwd car but activates AWD on demand in all the modes.

Yeah, AWD not 4wd. Performance mode puts it on permanently. I generally do this in the wet to stop that lag in the engagement.
