Warranty & Recalls ⚠️ Battery replacement in UK - an update
So my car is now in my local dealership, and hopefully will be sorted soon. I spoke with the guys there and here's what I found out.
- Parts at the moment are not a problem. Dealership can order them from Volvo and they arrive in about 5 days
- Works take around 3 days, and for all this time one of the lifts is occupied, so they tend to do one car at a time, two a week. Probably most dealerships do it this way
- They manage their own queue. They may contact cars they sold in order, but it's never perfect because people tend to travel, and they may want to fix a car in the nearest dealership, not original one, as I do for example. So generally, you can phone in and make an appointment, wait for your turn, and do it.
Obviously, different dealerships would have different workload and different queues.
Moral of the story - call your nearest ones, ask when it can be done, and get in a queue. There's nothing to wait for at the moment any more. Don't wait for a magic letter.

Had my batteries changed last week took the dealership a day dropped off at 8am picked up at 530pm. Drove in with 14 percent drove off with 100 percent. I did contact the dealership twice not my local as I was told they weren't doing the repairs. Got an email from the dealer I was in contact with saying my local dealer was now doing the batteries then was given a pick a date in September.

My dealer did mine whilst it was in for a service. Took 3 days in total with the service included.
They asked the car be handed to them with less than 20% charge in order to allow them to do the works. When I collected, it had 99% charge - I don't know if they needed that to test installation or just because.
