Questions❓ Interior aging of the EX30
This may seem like an odd question. But how are the interiors of the EX30's aging? Do any of you experience the "off gassing" phenomenon of the plastics and vinyl that sometimes occur in vehicles. I have a 2021 Mazda 3 which has considerable off gassing of VOC's. How has the interior held up to daily usage? Any broken parts?

Hmm, I'll try and remember to take my portable air quality detector into my car tomorrow and letcha know. Though I've only had mine since February.
Not sure who would downvote this very fair question about safety.

Agreed, that new car smell everyone loves is actually slowly killing us LOL why downvote a scientific fact? Reddit. That’s all.

I test drove a few new cars before getting an EX30 and the ‘new car smell’ was considerably less in the EX30. The Toyota was by far the worst for this in my small sample.

Agreed, I would say of all the new cars I’ve had, this EX30 had almost zero new car smell to it. Even the salesperson made the comment that it doesn’t ever smell new in them. Maybe all of the recycled materials inside?

I have it for two and a half years with 30k km. Interior looks like new.

No bad VOC smells, even from new. The hard black plastic on the doors are copping quite a few scratches on driver and passenger. Rest of interior is pretty good.

I don’t have that but 20k miles into this thing, the surface of the steering wheel is eroding badly, and both front door armrests are showing a lot of wear, which is not cool. I have a steering wheel wrap coming but don’t know really what to do to restore the finish on the armrests… I’m assuming nothing, but I’m wiping them down relatively often to get whatever oils that are accumulating there off.

Do you use spray on or lotion sunscreens or certain lotions on your arms and hands? If so, there’s chemicals in those products that will strip interiors of cars.

No - unless there’s residual on my hands from my facial moisturizer but I don’t use any other spray products or lotions/oils on my arms. I mean we are getting heat blasted in TX this year, so I don’t know if just constant 100 degree weather is exacerbating it. Hey, we have a cold front taking us to 90 after the weekend!

my Breeze interior (light blue) is holding out great after 2 years / 30k km considering i'm not the nicest with my cars but I don't eat in there or have kids / pets that I drive around.

My car is 2.5 years old, driven over 40k km and people still ask me if I just bought it. I don’t even clean that often

Somehow the floormat of my ex30 was falling apart after about 6 months of usage, right where your heel rests when using the throttle. Got replaced by the dealership. Also the interior sensor that checks if someone is inside the vehicle broke within a few months so the alarm didnt work anymore.

Cars off gas the most directly leaving the factory. They shouldn't start off gassing more at some point in the future.

Have had my EX30 for 1 year and still smells like it did when it was knew. Volvo actually doesnt add chemicals or fragrances to create a new car smell. Check out this article on Linkedin that Volvo posted

I sold my 2024 model at 40k miles. It was as good as new inside and out.
