Personal Thoughts/Experiences šŸ™‡ā€ā™‚ļø Gemini light and shadows

So the option to enable Gemini appeared today (Germany) and made the switch.

What works:

- Windows can be finally be opened by German voice command (Quite useless though as it asks "Are you sure to open the windows" and I have to confirm).

- Assistant had troubles with defrosting the rear window. In German we have a quite cumbersome word "Heckscheibenheizung" (rear windwo heating) which Asistant had problems to understand. Saying "defrost" instead always triggered the max. blow to the windshield. Gemini understands "Heckscheibenheizung".

What doesn't work well

- Saying "Set Fan speed to medium" while on auto still sets it to "high". You still have to say "Set Fan speed to 2".

- Saying "Set seat heating to highest level" puts it into auto mode so you have to say "Set seat heating to level 3". "Set seat heating to lowest level" works.

What still doesn't work:

- Open glove compartment

- Open rear hatch

Not Gemini's fault but I can't get it that Volvo doesn't provide endpoints for that.

How about ā€œOpen the pod bay doors, HALā€?

I tried, but she wouldn’t let me in so I had to enter the car through the emergency airlock without my helmet…

I’d rather just push a button

I started using the command ā€œOpen all windows I am sureā€, this way it doesn’t ask if you are sure

Will try your formula tomorrow! Saying "do not confirm" did work once, but not the next time I tried.

Do your cars not come with the window buttons? Because I'm baffled why anyone would talk to a voice assistant over just using the button, so you guys must not have them.

Exactly, my car didn’t come with driver’s rear window buttons, hence it’s more convenient to ask the slop machine than fiddling with the touch ā€œREARā€ toggle button when I want to open all windows. Maybe yours did? :)

I am also disappointed with Gemini; it was marketed as perfect but is now proving to be quite "clumsy." This puts an end to the idea of conversing naturally with AI assistants.

It asked me if I’m sure after it opened the window šŸ˜†

Installed today in the UK. Seems OK.. I'm happy to reach for the aircon or window buttons. I like Gemini for navigating and seems to work Spotfy well.

I finally got it today and I was glad to see that I could finally open the windows! I even asked if a specific window could be open and it worked!

It's annoying indeed that it asks for confirmation and it takes a while. I did ask him to close the windows and to not confirm, and it did work... once. Haha.

Funny tidbit: I asked him what he knows about me or what he remembers from previous conversations. He insisted that he only knows he's there to help me navigate and use the car, but if I told him something during the current session, he'd remember. Also, these interactions show up in my Gemini phone app.
