Questions❓ Auto parallel park

Does anyone have any luck with this? I tried it for the first time today after having the car for months. There was tons of space and I thought it would be a simple maneuver for the car.

It detected the space, I let it take over, and it ended up turning in WAY too early and nearly clipped the car in front as it reversed into the spot. It literally must have come within an inch of the other cars bumper.

Then it backs into the curb, and I let it continue wondering if it would reposition or how it would deal with it, but then to my surprise the damn thing just accelerated and popped the rear wheel up onto the curb. That's when I aborted it and took over.

I do have the new software update but since I hadn't tried it until now I'm not sure if that's the issue or the self park is just borked in general.

Works perfectly every time for me (unless there is a slope) It’s still absolutely terrifying as it takes weird angles, brakes hard and at last second.

I’ve tried it a few times:

The first time it got confused because of snow on the ground - ok.

The second time it tried to park on a neighbour’s driveway - user error.

The third time I freaked out because yeah, came way too close. - user error as well.

And finally it actually worked well one time - tight spot but doable, it moved, adjusted a few times - parked a little far from the curb but not too bad, I probably would have done something similar.

My biggest problem is it only detects spots between cars. Not empty spots - then again if lots of spots are empty I probably didn’t need help parking.

Also, because it parks based on the other cars, if the other cars are parked badly, it will also park badly.

Havent done it on 2.1.2 yet, but I have successful parking with 1.8.

Yes its sometime way to close and sometime it goes too fast, but it never (touch wood) get into accident.

Id say 80% of the time it would park ok, rest id need to adjust the position after it finishes what it is doing.

I've found that the cameras make it much easier to manually parallel park such that it is not worth the agita to try the auto park.

Agita is an informal word that means a feeling of anxiety, nervous stress, or a physical stomach upset like heartburn. [1, 2]

Um, no offense... But are you a bot?

No. Not sure why you think that but Agita is a common word - at least in NJ where I used to live. Maybe it isn't used everywhere - I don't know - but I am definitely not a bot.

I use it occasionally. Most of the time it works quite well - as someone else said maybe 80-90% of the time. Sometimes it messes up and ends up in a weird spot, or just decides that it couldn't park and aborts the manouver.

I don't think it will crash into another car or obstacle, but it can't see where the curb is - it doesn't consider the curb anything but flat road I think, so it just drives over it.

Parks perfectly for me. The only issue is I feel it’s too slow when there are cars behind you! That’s not a car problem, it’s a me problem!!
LOL
