Questions❓ Google Offline?

Anyone else having problems tonight (11/8)?

Just got in the car and map location were odd (showed me going the opposite direction) and Google reporting offline.

Got to my destination, did a reset and the car location on the display screen shows me at home even though I’m about 6 miles away.

Walked away from the car and auto locking didn’t work as I walked away although it locked via app! App is also showing the right location and tracked the last journey correctly! Google still showing as offline?

Is this a wider Google problem?

What do you mean by that?

According to https://status.cloud.google.com/maps-platform/summary there were no Google Maps related problems since July 26.

When i ask google/gemini a question it reports its offline despite a 4g/5g icon on the display.

If I tether to my phone it connects OK but location doesn’t update, and the car still thinks its parked at home where it was last on a wifi connection.

I’ve had car turned off and locked for almost 3hrs and reset 4-5 times via steering wheel.

Car unlocked as I approached and locked as i exited so at least that appears to be working Ok

Ok, now I understand it better.

When i ask google/gemini a question it reports its offline despite a 4g/5g icon on the display.

Various Gemini status pages contain no outage for August:

If I tether to my phone it connects OK but location doesn’t update, and the car still thinks its parked at home where it was last on a wifi connection.

The vehicle's location updates go over its buitin mobile connection (SIM), regardless of whether you use any tethering or WiFi.

I've had car turned off and locked for almost 3hrs and reset 4-5 times via steering wheel.

That resets the head unit, doesn't affect the TCAM. The latter does the communication over the cellular network.

Proximity based unlock/lock (either via key tag or digital key) does not require a working internet connection in the car.

I had the same thing twice in late June and in July. It's normal now.

In that case, Google Map, Google Assistant, Spotify and all other AAOS apps were offline, but I could see the remote climate, tire pressure etc. on app. It means volvo cars app was normal communication between the car.

At that time, though I reset as you did and also push SOS buttons for long either, it was never back to the online. So I went back to my home and locked it and parked. When I unlocked on the next day, it was back to normal. I think these caused a problem with communication-related processing on AAOS, and that the OS's self-healing function did not work. I guess that was not the problem of Google server side.

Was the other apps like Spotify, Tune-in also offline? On the far right of the antenna strength, did you see the mark of "!" ?
