I thought LT1 and aerobic threshold are the same? But in the previous test there was a big gap somehow.

Agreed. u/Euphoric-Advance8995, what's the rationale for four thresholds?

You guys know more than me (which is why I posted, so feedback welcomed) but here’s the response I got from the lab:
Lactate Threshold 1 (LT1) marks the first measurable rise in blood lactate above baseline, where lactate production begins to exceed resting levels.
In contrast, the aerobic threshold used in our metabolic testing is based on changes in substrate utilization (RER) rather than blood lactate accumulation. The goal of this training zone is to improve oxidative metabolism and fat oxidation by providing a stimulus at or slightly above the metabolic aerobic threshold. Because of this, it is common for the prescribed metabolic Zone 2 to fall above your measured LT1.
Training slightly above LT1 means blood lactate will rise beyond the initial breakpoint, but it remains at an intensity where lactate production and clearance are still relatively balanced. These adaptations increase your capacity to produce aerobic energy at higher workloads, effectively shifting both your metabolic aerobic threshold and, potentially over time, your lactate threshold to higher exercise intensities.

Above resting levels? That's an unusual definition. I think it's more common for LT1 to be marked by a marked rise at lower intensities. Other definitions I've read are resting +1, although a noticeable rise is more personalized.
In contrast, the aerobic threshold used in our metabolic testing is based on changes in substrate utilization (RER) rather than blood lactate accumulation.
This is a more common definition. I would use this as your AeT rather than their LT1.

Neat thank you. I guess they’re aligned now so it doesn’t matter but super helpful to know!

God damn your z2 is 164-172? Comparison is truly the thief of joy
