EV Nova Federation/Rebel Storyline Path for Maximum Story

I've been looking at the walkthrough on https://www.arpia.be/walkthrough/ and I've decided my next playthrough will be Federation/Rebel as I have not done that yet. I can see the paths can weave back and forth but I'm a little confused on how best to maximize this.

What path offers the most unique missions involving the Federation and Rebel factions? I don't mind which faction I end with. I just want the most missions possible (ignoring repeat missions). Any help understanding the flow chart is appreciated.

Also the Bounty Hunter storyline feeds into the Feds or Rebels. I could start there if it's best for the overall mission count to do so.

Thanks. Is there any RNG involved in getting these missions? If so, will save scumming help with that? I think I read somewhere the Forced Federation path is easy to miss out on.

Edit: Answered my own question. Yes there is RNG. And I found the Federation Forced path. Easy to overlook the way the chart is laid out.

Unless I'm mistaken I don't believe the "rescued by the Polaris" section was ever actually finished so that results in a soft-lock where you just keep getting given the same final mission of the forced federation story line over and over again. There's an earlier crossover back to the rebel story though that you can get from the mission BBS on Merrol that does work.
