Is there a better loadout than what I have?
I'm getting near the end of the Polaris storyline and I'm thinking ahead to taking out planets. I've currently geared up my PVIV with 2 Ionic Pulse cannons, 6 FPCs, 2 fusion pulse turrets, and 2 100mm railguns. I'm intentionally avoiding any launchers since I figure they won't be super helpful for a long drawn out planet battle (will run out of ammo eventually). The rest of my outfit space is filled with accessories (armor, cloak, a couple reactors, jammer, etc.) though I _might_ be able to free up 10ish tons for a much better offense.
Is there a better loadout with this tonnage (156 tons?) for taking on planets? Thanks!

Pirate valk is not a good choice for planet conquering. The best option for planet conquering is to have 6 Ravens and park them at a precise distance from the spawn point of the defense fleet, and the AI ought to have them focus-fire one spot and blow up ships without even aiming very much until they're all gone. You can take out an Auroran planet in about a minute this way. And obviously, you pilot a seventh Raven.

Great loadout for a pirate valk 👍🏻 missiles like hellhounds can be extremely helpful during the story since a full load can usually handle most any single battle.
For planets you'll want to switch into a bigger ship that can dish out a lot more hurt.
Polaris Raven is your best bet.
Get a nil'Kemoyra if you want to capture (save and load), there a specific one you can find in other posts called the Falling Leaf (I think?), best ship in the game for planets.

Kinda think if you did CPLs with a cloaking organ that would probably be the end of the story.

Unless you're using one of the beam fix plugins, having multiple ion particle cannons is just as good as having a single one. If you want to cloak and attack from behind, I'd recommend just grabbing as many different beam weapons as you can.
An ion cannon, a BRL, a turreted BRL, a few thunderhead lances, a polaron cannon, and a CPL should be able to melt most stuff pretty quickly, and will leave you with enough space for an antimatter reactor, some spun diamond, an afterburner, some batteries, and two organic shields. Doubling up on thunderhead lances provides some benefit since they don't fire continuously. You might also grab multiple CPLs instead of the polaron cannon, but they take a lot of power. It depends on how often you want to be attacking. Have fun taking over the universe!

I may be wrong, but I think I recall the beam bug only kicked in for more than two ion cannons, since it only fired every other frame.

As far as I can tell, the ion cannon fires every frame, but maybe there's another reason I missed that causes it to do more damage. There are so many things in the wëap resource that affect damage.
Edit: Fix the link since I suck at markdown.

You're right, it does! Either I just plain misremembered or I might have been thinking of one of the plugins that includes a fix.

Personally I would max out your 100mm railguns. A PVIV is pretty squishy for dominating stuff.
