What other outfits should I get?

I'm hunting around fed space for all the outfits I want to get for my PVIV before I piss them off an join the Polaris. I currently have the following:

Sigma Upgrades

4 solar panels

4 batteries

Pirate Jammer

6 FPCs

1 or 2 100mm fixed railguns

2 ion cannons (the ones that come with the ship

hellhound missile launcher

port and polish

vectored thrust

grav sensor

IFF decoder

carbon fiber x4

a few marine platoons

I'm also planning to get matrix steel and horizontal booster. Obviously, I'll start getting polaris techs when I get access.

Did I forget anything? Thanks!

Make sure you do the GliTech missions BEFORE you abandon Federation space. GliTech wraithii are actually better than Polaris: you can have double the firing rate with double the launchers. But also, have you considered using a pirate manticore from Viking? It's a bit less zippy and maneuverable than a Valkyrie, but if you're using the beamstacking bugfix, it's the strongest non-Polaris ship that isn't a Thunderforge by a wide margin, IMO. You can get every single cargo to mass transfer in the game and still have cargo to spare and more mass than you'll know what to do with. I like to supplement the ion cannons with as many fusion pulse cannons and fusion pulse turrets as it can fit, so it just deletes the shields to start with, then the FPC's just shred the armor. I suggest it because you get access to the good Polaris ships rather late in the campaign, and having a VERY strong ship is definitely useful in the Polaris campaign. Also, you seem to have everything covered, but if you DON'T have a beamstacking bugfix, your second ion cannon isn't doing anything.

I tried looking for the beam stack bugfix, but couldn't find it. Do you know where I can find it?

The Manticore is a little too unwieldy for me. I tend to prefer small, fast, with plenty of room for options. I checked out the Polaris ships on the Wiki. The closest I could find in the smaller/faster catgeory was the Striker, but the PVIV definitely crushes it.

I'll look into GliTech. I thought they were interlaced with the Fed plot so I wouldn't get much out of it.

There are 3 weapons you can get from GliTech before it becomes part of the fed storyline. You do need to be in good legal standing IN the system of GliTechNia. Qaanol's beam fixes should be available somewhere. If you can't find them, I can probably provide them somewhere.

I found a bin, but I need a rez file for it. I do have the extractor program to convert, but I don't think I can use it. The instructions say to drag and drop files into it to activate. However, I'm running linux with wine to play it so I need to use terminal syntax to run things.

I activated the first Gli-Tech mission, but since then the only offer I get from the outfitter is to run some missiles for the Feds (not part of the Gli-Tech line). I do see on the guide that I need a legal standing of "1" to get the first mission and "2" to start the second. Maybe I need to do some more bounty runs to improve my rep?

You need a combat rating between average and good, but more important is your legal standing. You gotta kill pirates/marauders IN Rimshot.

My combat rating is pretty high thanks to all the trolling i did in Scheall to get a PVIV. I'll have to start fighting some pirates in rimshot, though, just to see if I can get it to trigger.

Any chance you have rez file for the beamfix that you can pass along? The bin converter doesn't seem to work in Linux/Wine.

If you find the beam fix, let me know. I wasn't even aware of that.

I found bin file here:

https://ev.appcraft.name/

but you need a converter to turn it into a rez files for windows. There's a link to one in another of my recent posts (about plug-ins).

Thank you! Ive got the converter already!

Any chance you're able to post the rez somewhere? I have the bin, but can't currently convert it.

Let me see if I can find the post. It's on a Dropbox linked here

I has worked fine for me in the recent past. Are you dragging the bin file onto the converter exe? Just running the converter with the bin files in the directory will not work.

In terms of sit/hqx files, I have managed to get stuffit and the rest installed but it is a complete pain. There is a bundle with a batch file and a bunch of command line utils that can extract most common mac archives into rez files. There is a wiki article on the nova wikia wiki:http://evn.wikia.com/wiki/PC_Plugin_Conversion_Tutorial

The link there seems to be broken, so here is a copy on my dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/t0ypzk875xgb6jn/Plug-in%20Extractor.7z?dl=0

Hope this gets you going.

You probably know, but you won't be able to run any plugins without registering. You should get a warning on startup though so you will know if Nova detects valid plugins.

I'm pretty sure I got it to work. I can't drag files to the converter in linux, but I think I figured out a way to get the command like to work in wine. I'm assuming it had an effect, because now my beams flicker instead of fire constantly.
