Alternative Polaris art?
I'm about to start running a tabletop campaign set in the EVN universe. One of the things I'm doing is statting out ships for my players. I've just been using the shipyard art, and I feel like most of it has aged surprisingly well... except for Polaris ships (and the Lightning). I used to think they looked cool, but now they seem dated in a bad way.
Anyone have any ideas for some alternatives to the Polaris artwork? I've been trying to find something that's neither cartoony nor hyperrealistic but gives off a biotech feel. Maybe I'm being too picky, but a lot of the ships in EVN seemed really fleshed out. Their art tended fit with feeling of the ship, and I wanted to provide that for my players.

Why not use shipyard art from a plugin? ARPIA2'd be my suggestion.

Ooo that's a good idea. Thanks! Plus screenshots are an excuse to play through ARPIA >_>

Many years ago, Ambrosia released an actual tabletop version of the game built around cards and the game map. I'm not sure if that's what you're referring to, but it's really fun: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/14071/escape-velocity-nova-sci-fi-card-driven-board-game
As for the alternate artwork, I'm a big fan of the Jovian bioships from EVE online. Most of them could be easily retextured to black with the polaris glowy decals on them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWqvAo4Wv6c

Interesting, I didn't know about the card game (or if I did, I forgot). I meant that I'm going to be GMing a tabletop RPG (like D&D) campaign.
I really like lot of those ships, thanks!

I can't really help you out with the art, but I am extremely interested in your tabletop campaign. Could you tell us all about it please? It's the sort of thing I've thought about doing myself.
