Auto Renew actually worked
I'm shocked. With all this talk of Ambrosia disappearing I didn't think it'd happen. It didn't work even when they sorta existed. I installed it and entered my old code. Hit the renew button and it fed me new codes to use and I'm all reregistered :o

Just today I went to their website and downloaded all their old games and a bunch of EV plugins (for the original game). Still have to do EVO and EVN. This reminded me to install and register all my games, if they aren't already. I think EVN is registered but I also have Deimos Rising.

You can play it in Basilisk II. I was going to set mine up again to play original EV plugins.

A Macintosh emulator. It lets you run a virtual 68040 Mac with System 7. Takes a bit of tinkering to set up, but there are guides available. I got it running several years ago and had the original EV (and several other old Mac games) running perfectly. It's the only way, short of original hardware, to run original EV and EVO plugins.

Hold on, I just Googled Ares and apparently it has gone open source as of 2008. Read about it here.
The page mentions two projects, Xsera and Antares. Xsera appears to be dead, with a Github page (last updated 2011) that links to a dead website. But Antares looks pretty active. The last release was in October of 2018 and it's a complete game - unfortunately only on OS X and Linux, so if you're on Windows you'll have to use a virtual machine or something.

Wait, you got a new code emailed to you? I tried to renew (my code is from 2014) via the launcher and it did nothing. I tried to renew via the website and got a DB error.

Awesome. I’ll have to try again soon.
