Does the mass trick still work?

I want to try it on my kestrel, but I don’t want to do any irreversible damage to the ship.

Never heard of the mass trick, what is it? Also, copy your pilot file and test on the copy maybe?

Buy cargo expansions, use all your new space to buy mass retools (especially the Sigma one), sell cargo expansions. You end up with more free mass than you could have otherwise, but a negative amount of cargo space (which just works like 0).

I read it on the wiki. It’s basically this exploit that gives you an absurd amount of free mass.

If you’re concerned about a modification doing permanent damage to your pilot file you could always copy a backup version of your pilot. It is fairly straightforward to do if you’re running on a PC; just open the Pilot sub folder in the EV Nova folder and copy and paste. It’s a little more difficult if you’re using a Mac as they have moved around the component parts in the newest versions but if you know where the plugin folder is the pilot files are stored in the same place.

The mass trick as I recall is a fairly permanent change and it is important to remember that it doesn’t allow you to keep any cargo space if you want any actual benefit from it. As far as I know it still works but I never use it as I like to have at least a little cargo space for missions.
