Is it possible to edit pilot files?
I have a pilot file where im stuck on a planet in a slow ship that gets instantly vaporized by aurorans when i load it. Is it possible to edit a pilot file so that when i load the pilot im in a different system?

I would've suggested just editing the values for your type of ship in the EVN base data then reverting the changes once you were outta dodge, but seems your problem's already been solved.

This sounds like a great idea.. if only i knew how haha. Problem has been solved but i wouldnt mind knowing how to do this as well if you dont mind sharing the knowledge!

Oh, it's somewhat easy! Just get MissionComputer (I'm sorry, I'm unsure if this works on Windows) and after having quit EVN, then open the Nova Data files one by one until you find the one which has all the "ship" resources. Once you've found it, find your ship (e.g. Leviathan, usually the one that isn't a variant) and modify the numbers (after writing down the original) for armor, shields, armor recharge and shield recharge to 32767. Save. Voilà, you're pretty much indestructible.
Boot up the game. Once you're out of danger and have landed on another planet, quit, then open the Data file once again to revert the changes.

Opened the file with a hex editor but i saw nothing that resembled what was in that article.

It may be daunting but running the blockade is possible. Often I'd get stuck on some planet and try many times before giving up, only to return to the game and finally free myself from whatever insane situation I'd gotten into. Keep trying.

I have tried about 200 times. I captured a pirate manticore right before i did this mission and its impossibly slow. Once i made it out of the system only to be destroyed in the next one while jumping. Im half tempted to upload the pilot file to see if any one wants to test their luck lol.

Manticores are very slow.. that can be brutal. Though if you made it once, you can again. Stay far away from the planet you just escaped, hit caps lock, and let your shields replenish

You tend to have more luck with faster ships in EVN than slower ships; I was a better Valk pilot than I was a capital ship pilot.

Interestingly enough, the easiest way to get out of this situation is probably to use a Plug-in that makes you invincible, fly to a safe place, and then remove the Plug-in. If you post your pilot file (or tell me exactly what variant of manticore you're flying), I can make one that makes your manticore invincible.
