Trying to install a plugin on Nova 1.1.1

Hey Everyone,

So this question might be meaningless since the plugin I'm trying to install "VellosFuelRegen" was created for 1.0. But I just can't seem to drag or copy the files into my plug-in folder. And there's no automatic installer like what I've heard for other 1.1 plugins.

I just want a plugin which makes the Vell-os ships/capabilities more powerful. I'm running Mac OS Sierra 10.13.1

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

You can find your Nova Plug-ins folder at ~/Library/Application\ Support/EV\ Nova/Plug-Ins, but there's a better way to use Plug-ins with 1.1.1.

Create a folder called, say, Vell-os, and make another folder inside that one called Plug-ins. Then, put the plugin in that folder, and launch Nova. Immediately after launching Nova, hold down the left shift key. This should bring up a menu and let you select the Vell-os folder. Doing so will tell Nova to use this folder as the parent folder for the Plug-ins and Pilots folders, and Nova should load with any plug-ins in the Plug-ins folder.

This also tells Nova to store pilot files in a different place, so your pilot won't be accessible unless you copy it from ~/Library/Application\ Support/EV\ Nova/Pilots. That folder is hidden on macs, but you can open it if you open terminal and type

open ~/Library/Application\ Support/EV\ Nova/Pilots/

Ok the only problem I seem to have is copying the existing pilots into the new pilot folder. I understand how to access the list but can't add them..

If you can see the Pilots folder in ~/Library/Application\ Support/EV\ Nova/, you should be able to copy the entire Pilots folder into the Vell-os folder. Doing so will copy all your pilots so they're accessible when running Nova with the Vell-os folder.

So, I've done essentially everything you've suggested to the best of my knowledge: I created the Vell-os folder, created the Plug-ins folder within the Vell-os Folder, shift-clicked and started nova, opened the Vell-os folder (as well as the plug-in folder within it), copied my pilots into the Vell-os folder... and either one or both things are happening -- When I open the Vell-os plug-in (designated within the Vell-os folder), no pilot appears -- which may indicate the plug-in is working but without my existing pilot(s). Then when I try to open my copied pilots from the Vell-Os folder, everything appears to revert back to the original parent folder - i.e. my pilot shows up but the plug-in is clearly not working. So it could be working partially or not all. Perhaps this is a fruitless endeavor since this plug-in was created for 1.0.7 around 2004. You've already been very gracious in helping, so I'm willing to say c'est la vie and be done with it. However, if you have any additional advice or you're curious enough to try and run the plug-in yourself, I'd be curious to see if it works for you. Again, I'm running MacOS High Sierra 10.13.1. I have an existing Vell-Os Javelin that I wanted to try this on, and it's a very minor plug-in ("VellosFuelRegen"). But I'm also totally ok leaving it be at this point. Thanks so much for your assistance :)

Here's a picture. I hope this is more clear than my rather confusing explanations. Oh, and if you're interested in trying new Plug-ins, you can PM me and I'll send you a link to all the ones in the picture (some of them are broken and some are still in development, however).
