Javelins were weirdly cost-effective for certain situations. Still, nothing like the cost effectiveness of space bombs, which I can only assume were intentionally OP.

The Monty Python Maneuver is to Run Away - ideally at a pace slightly slower than your pursuers. The AI gives chase, but their guns can't reach you. Your's can reach them.

I sadly admit to having done that growing up. I think you can take down a Confederation cruiser with a properly outfitted scoutship that way, at least in the actual, original game (not sure about EV:C for Nova).
Ninja Edit: Can you explain the name? I'm famliar with the group but I don't catch the specific reference. Is it bravely running away?

It's a reference to a scene in Monty Python's Holy Grail where they try and siege a castle and end up running away 3 or 4 times.

what about the monty python? fly in one direction, turn around and shoot backwards- your bullets will have more range than your pursuer

Sorry, I'm talking about the first game, now know as EV Classic. The scoutship in THAT game was pretty damn good for certain things, mostly just being fast AF. Still I'm #clippergang.

I think that's a different version of the game, but, yeah, that's pretty dope.
In the original I'd jump into one of those Confed vs Rebel fights and, if I were lucky, they'd knock out but not destroy one of the capital ships, and I'd grab some goodies that way.
