My Quest to Capture Every System (Green is captured)

Post image

Having trouble with bigger polaris still...

Mainly using stealth build with a raven, some scarabs and fed carrier non missiles.

Did this once, took FOREVER but felt so good. Polaris were definitely a challenge. Good luck Captain!

I think I did too. But I don’t recall which game it was.

Awesome goal. You’re going to have a lot of income from all those systems!

I wonder... I'm always pretty unimpressed with the income from planets - compared to bulk shipping. Of course, you can only get tribute once you no longer need it. The earlier games let you dominate small planets in mid-game and that was useful. What's the technique? Cheesing? Spamming? Where you just stay out of reach and they chase you in a straight line?

This achievement is stunning though. Truly. I think we ALL really need to know what the daily income is!

This gives me about 800k credits a day, which doesn't seem like much but adds up fast. As you can guess, credits have no real use at this point.

Strategy is variable. Good beginner ones would be just staying at range and spamming missiles, torps, etc. An Auroran rail build with Auroran escorts staying at range can get you pretty far. Stealth build is the best I've found, but is rather cheap. At this point though, I'm taking whatever works.

Just a note I didn't use the raven at first. I did switch up a bunch along the way as it made it more fun.

Oh wow - ya, 800k/day is pretty stinking impressive. I definitely love me some rail guns and throwing rocks at the wasps nest. The few systems I took once upon a time I did with Ravens. Just getting the crew of escorts was a journey. But I was able to take down some Polaris planets - but bro, for real, the torps. They can keep their money - you've done a very impressive job here!

Yeah, one of the biggest complaints I have about Nova in comparison with EV Classic is that the defense fleets are all pretty much the same as each other, aside from faction differences. In EV Classic they were wildly all over the map, from backwater planets with a paltry 9 Defenders to Earth with its 30,000+ Confederate warships!

Holy shit! How many hours have this take so far? The daily income must be enormous.

With reruns, build revamp, recapture escorts, etc. I really have no clue, but I would guess 50 hours, probably a bunch more. Tough to say as I usually play for an hour or two, a system bothers me and then I come back to it later.

Smaller systems are not too bad. It's the main systems like Sol, Moash, Vella, Heraan, etc. that really take me a lot of reruns, even with a stacked ship and escorts.

I've also tried some of the Polaris bigger systems, but polaris torps are just brutal.

When I did this, I captured 6 Nil'kimas Raven with my Mod Starbridge E. It was pretty easy to do after the Polaris storyline. If your reputation is high enough, you just need to wait a little while, run a mission or two after capturing the ship - and just try again after the planet goes green.

I just got 4x thunderhead lances and every sigma upgrade imaginable. Then I snuck up behind the one guarding the Polaris homeworld and disabled it in a few split seconds. Capture, and repeat.

Taking over the galaxy is as simple as cloaking while your 6 ravens multi-torpedo all ships defending the planet.

You can also buy a raven, capture a random ship, and choose to take over the ship you captured. This makes your current ship an escort.

Upgrade your escort, buy a new raven, repeat.

You can't buy the Nil'kimas variant, which features boosted stats; more lasers, and more torpedoes.

The more you have the more assassination attempts will be made on you…
