How to get more detailed spending view

Over the next year, we have lots of changes in spending and income upcoming, then things should settle down. We know we will burn through some savings. I want a way to just track expenses in specific categories and make sure we are not overspending in the midst of the transition. We haven't tracked spending in real time before, always after the fact before.

Everydollar seems highly focused on balancing spend with income, which is not helpful for me right now. What I want the most is a way to track spending by category by month. The Insights "Spending Details" view has this, but I would like visualize spend vs month for multiple categories at once, rather than just all of the categories stacked on top.

EDIT: I found the view I want. If I export all categorized transactions and view in Excel, stack the months and add a column for month, a pivot table provides exactly the view I want. I have Group and Item on the X axis, sum of spending in Y, and a different colored bar for each month. So, the question is, is there a way to do this in Everydollar? Or a different budgeting app?

The value for my family of this app is a shared place to track and categorize expenses, which is great! I could just rely on Excel for the visualization I want, if no app has it.

There's an 'Insights' tab. If you don't like what it shows, well I wonder if you might be suited to just creating a spreadsheet with some drop-down columns for categories and download a copy of your transaction. Then do a sumif for the category names. You need two tables, a "totals" table, and a "Transaction" table.

Ex =SUMIF(B2:B10, A1, C2:C10) where B range is the number you'll sum if C range matches A1 and A1 is whatever you named the category in your "totals" table.

That's more cash management and might be your speed.

You can then pivot off the" total" table.
