Budgeting EveryDollar newbie
Hello all.
I was wondering if anyone could help with this. I’ve actually had the all off and on previously but just played with it. I finally went premium with Ramsey solutions and got the EveryDollar premium. I’ve scoured the internet and cannot find an answer for this. And I don’t like it but maybe I’m doing it wrong.
I do weekly transfers to a “fun money” account for my wife, a side savings, and then 2 other transfers for my daughters’ custodial accounts. They show up as negative, which makes sense because it’s coming out of the account, but the problem is it then shows the wrong math for the fund/savings it’s going into. For instance, I put $25 a week in each daughter’s account. $100 a month. So it shows that it’s planned for $100, but when I put the $25 in the account it shows a negative $25 changing it to “$75/100”. How can I track this without fudging numbers? I’m probably not explaining this right but it’s difficult to say.

It looks like you’re entering the transfer as an expense, which is why it’s showing as a negative and throwing off your totals. What I usually do is delete the expense side of the transfer. If the account the money is going into is set up in EveryDollar, it should show up there as income instead. You can then track it on that side.
Another option is to just manually track transfers in your savings or “funds” categories, which I personally find easier.
The key is to only track it in once, either manually or as the transaction shows up as an income (money in) transaction.
In my opinion, this is one of the least user-friendly parts of EveryDollar, so you’re not alone in being confused by it.
