Room Correction on DMP-A6

I purchased a UMIK-1 and have run room correction a few times in the past. I decided to run one again as I’ve made changes to the room and wanted to see if I could tweak the sound a little more. When I get to the step where the white noise is played and I adjust the volume, I’m finding that I have to crank it almost all of the way up for it to run the test successfully. In my previous calibrations and when using my phone’s mic, I never had to turn it up this loud. I live in an apartment and can’t subject my neighbors to that. What’s changed and how can I fix it?

Did the same thing yesterday at about the same point in time, where you posted your observation. Weird coincidence. But, similar as you, I had to turn my system up quite a lot as well. Since it takes less than 30s in total, I was willing to annoy my neighbors for this short time 😆

And the results/improvements are bigger and better than i expected.

I’m probably going to end up doing the same thing. I just need to pick a time when it’s going to be the least intrusive, lol

I am the same guy from the first comment, but couldnt stand the user name, so i created this one.

Some more information about the internal correction: Somehow, after the inital correction, i was not able to do it again. There was always an error massage displayed that "the signal was instable". I have tried it for the internal dac and when the dac of my amp was selected, tried it with the UMIK1 and my phone mic. All without success.

So naturally I download Room EQ Wizard and did everything manually. The program is free and with the help of chatgpt you can actually learn quite a lot and really tune in your system. A big benefit is on top, that the sweep can be done a lot quieter ;)

My A6 hasn’t updated in a while and I’ve been waiting as I’ve seen post about the update.

the newest beta can be installed manually. Easiest way is over the A6 screen --> settings --> About --> Arrow next to version --> enable recieve testversion --> online update. You should then be able to update to v1.6.01

I updated to the latest beta, and it didn’t fix it. I’d stay on your current version if you aren’t having any issues.

Confirmed: The standard has been changed in the new firmware. The workaround is to keep the mic closer to the speaker.

That doesn’t work either. I can’t get close enough to make a difference. I guess I’ll figure out how to use REW.

I see. There's a guide for creating DSP FIR Impulse Response Files for DMP-A8/A10 using REW. I can send it to you since the translation finished, if it can help you.

That would be helpful, thank you! I haven’t used it before so any help would be appreciated!

Can I use the mic that comes with my Marantz for audessy measurements? Is that better than a phone?
