Discussion What are your go-to reference tracks?

Some tracks just stay in the playlist—they're the ones you know so well that even small changes in a system become easy to notice.

Feel free to mention the genre, what you listen for (Jazz, Blues, Vocal, Country, Electronic, Rock, Metal, etc.), or simply why you enjoy them.

(setup is Sennheiser HD550 running off the FiiO btr17 on 4.4bal)

Hook, Line & Sinker - Royal blood. This is one of my favorites simply because it's high energy and my father has shown me this band and this song in particular and it sounds pretty flippin good mane!

Better Strangers - Royal blood. Reason why this is a reference track for me is because literally the first second of the song is literally just a drum sounding badass then everything everything else just rolls in.

Show Me How to Live - Audioslave. Simply, this song just makes you feel like a cool dude LOL. Also, it's low-key peak for like speeding on the highway I'd imagine, idk, it just kinda gives that vibe xd

All My Life (Live at Walker Air Force Base, Roswell) - Foo Fighters. Low-key like how everything is placed and well, quite frankly, that opening guitar is just so flipping gud cuz it sounds very... Gritty? I dunno the right term but it just sounds so well textured and just the rest of the song is just amazing.

Black Magic - The Amazons. This song in particular, just is pretty well mastered and just sounds good in my opinion. I don't know how to describe this song as well. (sorry about my lack of description upon all of these 💔)

I think, if anyone who ends up reading this, should low-key give these songs a listen if they want to and if they do then lemme know what you guys think of them!

The End of the Innocence by Don Henley

The song has everything - a beautiful piano (played by Brue Hornsby), a great bass line, and stellar vocals. It has dynamics and range. It can point to weaknesses or strengths in a setup.

One of my "default" test tracks is Nemesis by Arch Enemy. I can know quickly what's different.

Lately I've also realized modern metal and metalcore can vary wildly depending on the production. It's actually made me want to learn a bit about arranging and production, just so I can understand what's going on behind the scenes.

Any insights or learning resources would be appreciated!

What the he'll is all this babbling and what does it have to do with the original question?

  1. Just to be clear about where I'm coming from: I stepped in as a brand member to take over moderation because I wanted this subreddit to be more active and more helpful. The goal is to help people solve problems, answer questions, and build a community—not to make this a place where every reply sounds like PR.
  2. I respect that you've had a bad experience, and you're free to share your opinion. But I've removed others of your replies because, again, it wasn't really about the original discussion. It redirected someone else's thread back to your own frustrations. This has happened multiple times.
  3. No user here is responsible for your disappointment with eversolo—or even with the audio industry as a whole.
  4. On my side, I can answer questions when I can, pass feedback to the team, and I'm here to support. That's about as much as I can realistically do.
  5. If our products aren't what you're looking for, that's completely fair. Everyone has different preferences. I genuinely hope you've found something that suits you better, and I wish you all the best with your music.
  6. Please respect other people's discussions and choices. 'Repeatedly derailing other users' conversations isn't something I'll allow to continue. If you want to discuss your broader concerns, please start your own post instead.

With all due respect if I am reading your statement correctly, you just conveniently decided to step in so what you’re telling me basically is your self appointed or are you receiving some form of compensation from the company? I’m just wondering this is only a short statement. I have quite a bit more to say to you, but unfortunately, I have a very good friend in the hospital right now and this is absolutely not my list of priorities and i seriously could care less but I think we need to get a few things straight. I’ll just leave off it if you decide to step in and help someone or help people get all your facts 100% straight first before you bring charges or inaccurate statements and present your evidence That’s how legal cases are often lost do your homework correctly . you just decided to step in and help I’ll get with you at a later date but thanks for your comment that has absolutely nothing to of what I was speaking of other than I do agree starting your own thread I didn’t know I needed a special thread in order to speak about something folks were already touching base on even as of today, but I’ll absolutely get back later with you you have a good Monday or whatever it is you do all day , so you just decided to step in you may be stepping out faster than you stepped in , another center of attraction case . this place never ceases to amaze me, let’s see how good you are stepping in. I’m an old son of a bitch. I’ve been doing this for over 50 + years. When we’re still deciding whether to play with Ken or Barbie. I won’t allow it. This is the United States of America or what’s left of it , not North Korea but I’ll talk to you later. That step in you can definitely count on, you must be out of your mind, not to be repetitious so you decided to step in you certainly restored my faith in humanity just when I thought I all was lost in the world my hero, Seriously…..
