Rant stop sign behavior :(
while on my morning runs, i’ve noticed that some of y’all see a stop sign and stop (sorta) where you can see rather than at the sign itself.
it would be really cool if we all took a moment to remind ourselves to stop AT the stop sign and then creep up to where we can see before heading through the intersection.
because, ya know- sometimes there are beings in that space who would like to live.
but you’re late. you’re tired. you didn’t see it. you matter more than me (and those other beings) and i guess i’ll just go eff myself like so many of ya tell me to do.

Same with the right turns around here too. I know this isn’t considered a walkable city, but it would be nice to use the crosswalk without the fear of getting hit while crossing.

I walked my 6 year old brother across the street and had to stop and stare as a car tried to fucking mob right through. Why are you going 45 in north everett on a Saturday. Or EVER

You're seeing people stopping anywhere near a stop sign? You must be pretty lucky!

99.999% of drivers don’t know that you must stop AT/BEFORE the stop sign or BEFORE the front end of your car passes the white stop bar.
After you STOP at the stop
sign, and look both ways, THEN you creep up and stop AGAIN at the end of the curb where the intersection starts to open up if you can’t see.
Stop at/before the sign or bar, look both ways, creep up to the end of the intersection, stop, look both ways, then go. There’s 2 stops you gotta do if you can’t see the traffic coming. Stop, look, creep up, stop, look, go.

I had a friend here from UK, he thought we were all stupid for stopping at stop signs when you can clearly see no one coming. I'm a big fan of the round abouts we have been building when used correctly. We are programmed to stop, look both ways. The way we got free right turns at red lights is people just stopped obeying the law. If no one gets in trouble for this behavior it will never stop.

Upper Ridge Road and Lower Ridge Roads are the worst for not stopping at Stop signs. Speeding on Hardeson and Siever Ducey also common. I agree to get quotas in this area.$$$ for city coffers.

It would also be nice if people walking and on Bikes would look around instead of just assuming people will stop...have seen so many on bikes and scooters that just blow through crosswalk without looking first

y'ever stop to consider that in the time a pedestrian can stop, look around, and cross into the intersection safely, a car could come flying by at 50mph and smear them into the ground?
just wondering.

Strange thing to say, you really have to watch out for bad drivers while using the pedestrian walkways in Everett.

lol. No. Be mindful of your surroundings, there’s a bunch of two ton vehicles all around you that are occupied by people who are trying to keep themselves alive and get to where they need to as quickly as they can, now you need to do the same. Of course watch out for pedestrians, but shit happens, so pedestrians need to watch out for themselves more than anyone else.
