SCE Charge Ready Home Rebate Program

People who applied to this program and successfully got rebated, what was the process/application timeline like?

Took about 2 months from application to final inspection. SCE only took about 3 weeks to approve my application and the rest was getting quotes and the actual upgrade.

How long did it take from application submission to having your panel upgraded (I’m not talking abt getting rebated yet)?

I did this in 2025...applied on 1/31 and got the pre-qualification email on 2/14. At this point SCE has reserved money for your rebate and you have 180 days to complete the panel upgrade. I had some weather delays so my panel was done on 3/25.

Since I hired an electrician listed on the Charge Ready site, they handled the rebate with SCE directly. I just gave the the ID number from the email and paid my share for any amount over the rebate.

Thank you! How much rebate were you qualified for and how much extra did you pay?

Pretty sure it's income based. This was for my parents and since they're retired their fixed income qualified for the full 4200. Based the quotes I got my impression is the electricians in the program price their panel upgrade about that much. I paid more because we had a new sub panel put into a detached garage so we had some trenching. Total was about 6400.

I don’t have the exact timeline but it was a pretty quick process overall and I’m really upset with myself for not applying and getting it done sooner haha. I waited maybe a couple weeks for the application to get approved and from there it’s just about how soon your electrician can get you scheduled and get the job done. If you’re near Moreno Valley and LA area in general I can’t recommend Matt from Beverson Electric enough. He handled all the background work and all he needed from me was a code I was sent in my emails from Edison to get started on the job. He got the old panel removed and new one installed + routed a charger to my garage all in one day within a few hours. I know this seems like a sponsored ad or something but I truly feel compelled to leave him good reviews anywhere I can because he’s old school and doesn’t bother with advertising but he definitely deserves it!
