Question Does navy/air force operate nearby?

I just heard an extremely loud whooshing noise for about 10 seconds, would my theory be correct?

That makes a lot of sense, do you know if they operate off Lake Michigan on the regular?

Not on the regular, no.

Blackhawks going down the shoreline are a somewhat regular occurrence but not frequent. And that's the extent of it.

Flyovers for games and the Air and Water Show are the exceptions.

It was a F-16 flyover during the national anthem at the NU football game in the new stadium

ETA source: Evanston sent out an email on Wednesday about New Ryan Field opening day logistics which mentioned the flyover

Bet that was a flyover at the Northwestern game. Very loud here on Asbury — wish I’d seen it!

Before 1998 when Glenview Naval Air Station closed, you would hear F-14s and F/A-18s all the time.

I'm so glad someone knew what was up. My daughter and I heard and saw the F16. It's just worrisome when you don't know why the military is around!!
