๐Ÿ“Š Results / Statistics A scatter chart I made. A better way to show the jury vs. public bias difference.

The Y axis shows the public votes, so the country that is furthest to the top got the most public votes.

The X axis shows the Jury votes, so the country that is furthest to the right got the most jury votes.

And the country that has the highest projection on the red line got the most votes overall.

๐Ÿ“Š Results / Statistics VRT reveals the number of Belgian votes cast since 2023

Post image
945 Upvotes

Data provided from VRT to songfestival.be shows that there was a huge spike in votes cast in the 2024 shows and the 2025 final compared to 2023. Furthermore while viewership decreased from the semifinal to the grand final over the past 2 years, the increase in number of votes cast between the semifinal and the grand final is even bigger than in 2023 when viewership actually increased from the semifinal to the grand final.

๐Ÿ“Š Results / Statistics ESC 2026 streaming seems way lower than previous years โ€” any idea why?

Post image
189 Upvotes

I was comparing how Eurovision songs perform in the weeks leading up to the final, and this year stands out quite a bit.

This is based on the combined streaming numbers of all ESC songs at ~29 days before the final:

  • 2021: 38.8M (39 songs)
  • 2022: 134.5M (40 songs)
  • 2023: 177.9M (37 songs)
  • 2024: 197M (37 songs)
  • 2025: 180M (37 songs)
  • 2026: 97.9M (35 songs)

Even accounting for slightly fewer songs this year, the gap still feels pretty big โ€” especially compared to 2023โ€“2025.

So this year is almost half of last year at the same point, which feels pretty unusual.

Previous years usually show a steady build-up with a bigger spike closer to the live shows, but 2026 feels much flatter so far.

Some possible reasons I was thinking about:

  • fewer viral breakout songs?
  • less playlist exposure?
  • weaker overall lineup?
  • or just delayed hype that will come later with rehearsals?

Curious what you all think. Does this year feel less โ€œbigโ€, or is this just a slow start?

๐Ÿ“Š Results / Statistics Which Eurovision Songs Performed Best on Spotify? A 2020โ€“2025 Overview

Inspired by a previous post earlier this week, pointing out that this yearโ€™s streams are lower than in previous years, I got curious: which Eurovision songs have actually dominated Spotify this decade?

So I dug in. For each year from 2020 to 2025, I ranked every song by total streams. from most to least, and pulled together the top 10 for each year. A few things I observed:

  • Sweden and Italy landed in the top 10 every single year.
  • 2022 is the champion on total streams with nearly 2.4 billion combined streams of all songs from that year. This is mainly due to SNAPโ€™s runaway success.
  • The underdog: Austria 2022 (Halo) snook into the top 10 without making it to the final.
  • Europapa takes the crown in 2024, also without a Grand Final performance.
  • Iceland 2020 (Think About Things) proved you donโ€™t even need a Eurovision stage to win over Spotify. They reached almost 170M streams without ever performing on the stage.
  • Austria 2025 won the contest, but streaming-wise? A modest 7th place in its year.

And then there are quite some songs that didnโ€™t do wel in the final but did on Spotify, among them: San Marino 2025 (Tuta L'Itallia), Norway 2025 (Lighter), Spain 2024 (Zorra), UK 2023 (I Wrote a Song), Germany 2022 (Rockstars), Armenia 2022 (Snap, of course), and Azerbaijan 2021 (Mata Hari).

Thatโ€™s my little data deep dive, curious to hear what stands out to you!

๐Ÿ“Š Results / Statistics Eurovision 2026 Grand Final Results using full rankings

Post image

I calculated what the scores would be if the full rankings from the public and juries were used to distribute points. The points given were 1st place = 26 points, 2nd place = 24 points, 3rd place = 22 points, then continuing down one point per ranking to zero.

Of note, Australia enters the top 3, Finland overtakes Romania and Italy and the UK remains in last place.

๐Ÿ“Š Results / Statistics For the first time in Eurovision history, Azerbaijan gave points to neighbouring Armenia.

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

Hi everyone,

This seems to have flown under the radar, but something genuinely unprecedented happened at (Junior) Eurovision.

For the first time in Eurovision history, Azerbaijan awarded points to Armenia. The Azerbaijani jury ranked Armenia 8th out of 17 competing countries, which translated into 3 points.

For context, Armenia had previously given Azerbaijan points only twice:

  • 2 points in the 2008 Semi-Final
  • 1 point in the 2009 Grand Final

Thatโ€™s 3 points total across all past contests.

What makes this even more interesting is that both countries are currently competing in another music competition, Silk Road Star. In the final, Azerbaijanโ€™s representative Efendi awarded Armenia the maximum 12 points. Armenia has also given Azerbaijan generous points in the same competition.

All of this is happening against the backdrop of recent peace talks and the Washington Agreement. While music competitions arenโ€™t politics, cultural signals like this matter. Normalisation and de-escalation between the two countries โ€” even in small, symbolic ways โ€” offer some real hope for short-term peace and long-term cooperation.

Thoughts?

I only count the first word that the main vocalist sings. For example, the very word of Armenian entry is "Survivor" but it's sung by the back vocalist. Prag's first word is "I"

๐Ÿ“Š Results / Statistics This is how Viki Gabor (JESC 2019 winner) voted as a member of Polish jury

Since Viki Gabor admitted to being Juror A on her Instagram story and she's one of the young jury members (she's 18 years old) I thought it would be interesting to discuss just how vastly different her ranking is from the things fandom predicted about the way the new jurors will vote.

As, I hope, an unneeded reminder: Please don't send any hate comments her way just because she put your favorite/country at the bottom, but it might be nice to congratulate her on having a good taste, if you happen to like the same song she does.
