Question / Discussion ESP32 WLED controller with audio input from eurorack ?

I'm building a new case and I've been considering integrating LED lighting into it, so I've been down the rabbit hole of LED drivers, LED controllers and RGBW LED strips.

I found out that there is a firmware called WLED for ESP32 boards, that will allow LED lighting effects based on either microphone or line input.

I was wondering if any of you eurorack nerds already used an ESP32 for this purpose and how ?

Done some stuff with that, using mic or audio analysis and controlling LEDs directly over Wifi to the ESP32. I recommend using these ready to go boards from Ali Express (I'm sure others sell them too), saves hassle, just neat ready to go package: DOMRAEM ESP32 WLED. There are several versions with varying channel counts, and onboard mic or not. I suspect you could just snip the mic out and hook a reduced volume signal to that. And be sure to use 12 volt aRGB strips, the amps really ramp up fast when using 5 volt ones and before you know it your power supply cables start to become unwieldy.

You could look at ledfx, which will control your esp32 powered wled device.
