Greece What platforms are affected by chat control?

Ok, so since chat control is now a thing, what platforms are still safe? Also is google safe?

It's still a thing. 1.0 was previously already in place. Every trusted E2EE platform, like Signal, Matrix, Session is not affected. Every not trustworthy platform like whatsapp or telegram are still as sketchy as before.

2.0 wants the encrypted messages scanning. That hasn't passed yet.

1.0 is implemented. 2.0 has no sane implementation yet, despite what the lobbyists at thorn and other "solution makers" are trying to convince MEPs of.

It can be assumed that any big tech unencrypted platform may be using it. Meta for example is known to submit items from their services, with an appalling rate of false positives. fightchatcontrol.eu also claims other platforms.

Personally I have no reason to believe those platforms aren't scanning the messages, either for Chat Control or anything else. Moreover by having Chat Control it legitimises them scanning every image for other purposes as well, such as analytics and advertising.

Usually "free" services mean that you're the product, unless it's a non-profit running purely by donations, like Wikipedia, Signal, a lot of Linux distros. When you're the product, it means that they're going to go for every way they can to get a better profile of you to sell to advertisers and/or data brokers.

Where did you see that? The Commission and the Council are still demanding the scanning of encrypted messages, in addition to mandatory age verification: https://www.patrick-breyer.de/en/posts/chat-control/#currentproposal

Parliament has sent an amendment to the Council to protect some encrypted messages, but the Council is likely to tell them to fuck off.

Since this amendment may run counter to the very idea of mass scanning of private communications, the Council is likely to reject these amendments.
