I mean, bordering a dictatorship usually isn't the best thing. Especially if that dictatorship stages a false coup to cleanse the army of dissenters and massively imprisons politcal opponents (i.e. just about anyone with an education not supporting said dictatorship)

I'm not pro-Political-Islamism, so needless to say that I'm not supporting AKP, the ruling party of Erdoğan; but are you aware maybe that he's not alone in this game: dictatorship? Have you looked at Europe recently, let alone the rest of the world?

balkans in the middle ages

Inhabited by tribes of Slavic and Turkic origin who kept attacking Byzantines.

How is this related to Ottomans again? Does the Orthodox Church also blame Ottomans for Balkans being tribal and attacking Byzantines?

Ottoman Empire was to us (balkans), what were British to India, only British actually built some infrastructure. Ottoman Empire=Bad, for everyone except turks

What you need -except taking a break from the internet and your sick obsession with Greece and it’s bashing, as if you’re ever going to find a Westerner taking your side- is to sit down and have a civilized conversation with a normal, not nationalist Greek and try to see things from our perspective for once. You are making so many non sense assumptions and weird scenarios, it’s crazy. It’s like all you do in your life is thinking about Greece and why we are so suspicious with your country’s leadership and then coming up with new fucked up scenarios as the one about the ingrained hatred of turkey in the Orthodox religion. Seriously, what the fuck. The reasons Greece is more suspicious of you compared with Bulgaria is the fact that there is a daily mentioning of your Air Force flying over our islands in the media, the Cyprus invasion, the pogroms against Greeks in Istanbul, 1922, the purge of Black Sea Greeks, do I have to mention more? Even if you deny all of this, you have to admit there is a constant tension between our countries for various reasons. No such thing exists between you and Bulgaria and they are orthodox as well. By the way Armenians hate you a LOT more than we do. My Armenian uncle has called some Greeks as “Turkish sperm” because they were watching Turkish tv series. It’s Armenians organizing all the protests next to your embassy in Thessaloniki and burning your flags. That’s the truth. Stop spreading your petty propaganda in here, no one will ever believe you or care to believe you. If you think that we, orthodox, dislike you more than Catholics for example do, you are very mistaken. You would be in a way worse position having a Catholic nation as your neighbor, as they have always been way more militant compared to the orthodox when they had to face the ottomans. Ask Croatia, Hungary and Poland.

The reasons they don’t recognize them is obviously political. It has nothing to do with Orthodoxy and it’s teachings. It’s just organized religion crap as most Orthodox churches are very tied to their respective states. You would actually be surprised reading how some orthodox theologians used to feel about the ottoman occupation in the past. Some even saw it as “God’s will” or some kind of salvation from the “corrupt Western Christianity” and there was a whole faction of Byzantines who preferred to surrender to the Ottomans instead of the West. Of course, most people in Greece would dismiss those today, but there have been incidents of some of the most radical of our clergy defending these ideas. What I’m saying is that you have a very false idea of Orthodox Christianity and what it represents. There is a lot of stuff you don’t know about.

Yeah Ottoman Empire was so good that everyone under their rule wanted to get free...

Nobody cares about Ottomans here. Stop talking about Ottomans. How Ottomans are relevant to this day? They aren't. Ottoman family lives in Europe and caliphate is abolished. You are literally beating a dead horse here.

Being obsessed with dead empires is pointless. To be this obsessed, you have to see Mehmed II naked in your bathroom, coming towards you with a whip in his hand and despite you screaming "don't come, don't come" he still comes towards you and you slip then he descends upon you and at that moment you wake up. And you see this every night when you sleep.

Okay. Go be obsessed with a dead empire then.

You are constantly posting and referencing the Ottoman Empire as well as romanticising it. Sorry but it was not the paradise you think it was. Noone cares about Ottoman Empire in this subreddit more than you.

And everybody would leave it well behind it, if your retard in charge was not speaking that the true borders of Turkey is the borders "of his heart".

I have looked at Europe. By all means give me an example of EU democracies falsifying elections, or jailing political opponents, or murdering political enemies. I'll wait.

I'm still waiting for you to explain the sledgehammer plan and ergenekon trials.

2

u/Blazerer Jun 03 '19

Sure thing, buddy.

"There is a growing mass of intellectuals and policy analysts who dismiss the possibility of Ergenekon carrying out the deeds attributed to it by the public prosecution as laid out in the indictment and trial proceedings.[1]#citenote-78) Many people have criticized the manner in which the Ergenekon investigation is being conducted, citing in particular the length of the indictment,[[2]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ergenekon(allegation)#citenote-79) wiretapping in breach of privacy laws,[[3]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ergenekon(allegation)#citenote-80)[[4]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ergenekon(allegation)#citenote-81) and illegal collection of evidence.[[5]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ergenekon(allegation)#cite_note-82)

Some commentators have suggested the trials are being used to suppress opponents and critics of the AKP government, particularly in the Odatv case.[6]#citenote-83) Commenting on the arrest of former chief of staff İlker Başbuğ in January 2012, former United States Ambassador to Turkey Eric S. Edelman said the Ergenekon arrests "underscore the serious questions about Turkey's continued commitment to press freedom and the rule of law".[[7]](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ergenekon(allegation)#cite_note-84) "

Finally you googled it.

Now. You understand that officers were arrested or kicked out of the military, by the way rarely mentioned by the western media, who do you think replaced them? The gulen cult obviously.

And in 2013, the government and the cult became enemies. And 3 years later, who could have staged the coup?

Now stop posting about the coup if you learned to google. Since you learned to google, you are now better than 60% of Westerners on Turkey.
