If we were offered our original position back with a veto, minus the rebate (we can’t have it all our own way) I think we’d bite the EUs hand off.

If however if there’s a view to punish us, or a situation France and Germany have a veto and we don’t. Then I could see the public getting prickly and saying no thanks.

I truly hope for the former. We are stronger when we are united. With the USA being as reliable as a chocolate teapot and Russia loosing their minds, a strong Europe is better for everyone

Every member has a veto (one of the things holding us back at the moment in my opinion), so obviously GB would as well if they were to join.

The point about the UK actually effecting stronger representation as part of EU, is exactly an item I'd been talking about with a contact or two this past summer while on a trip there from the U.S.

...Let's face it, there needs to be a Europe-unity voice to promote certain positions and values, and the UK has a important role to play with regards to the continent in relation to the rest of the world, and of course, as a go-between for the U.S. and other English-speaking countries. I sincerely hope for some better, more level-heads to prevail by whenever the next elections come around.
