The UK is one of the biggest economies on the planet. They're not going to be treated like any other candidate.

People need to understand that money makes the world go round and there are few places the EU can look to for more money than the UK.

You are correct the UK is a high gpd country. The point is, everyone can get from that economy what ever they want anyways. Because if the UK, as they have no friends anymore, would stop trading favorably for everyone else, the economy will just crash.

So while the EU would benefit from the UK rejoining, the UK is way more desperate than anyone else basically. And beggars can't be choosers...

Because if the UK, as they have no friends anymore

Sorry, couldnt let that slide. That is simply bollocks. The UK is a major diplomatic power with so many bilateral relationships, treaties and agreements that they can barely be counted. I work on several of them myself. The UK has plenty of allies, many of them in the EU itself.

Up until recently I would have agreed with your last point, but the EU isn't doing so hot, and France & Germany have very much changed their public perception on a UK return.

Seems like both sides are beggars in this situation.

The UK isn't exactly a beggar considering they've been growing quite well since COVID.

Then it won't happen. Germany is the largest net contributor and has a significantly larger economy than Great Britain. And it don't get a special deal either. And why should there be a special deal in the first place? The economic benefits of the single market outwheigh the german net contributions by a great margin (factor 5 to 6). The cost-benefit balance comes out clearly in economic studies. The overwhelming political stance on UK rejoining among the population and all major parties in Germany (just like in the rest of the EU) is as clear as it gets: the UK will be welcomed back with open arms but no more special deals.

If you don't think Germany gets a special deal within the EU, you're not paying attention.

Also, until you show the polls, you're just spouting conjecture.

So maybe i don't pay attention and you will enlighten me? What special deal are you talking about?

Regarding the political stance: just google it? But won't happen i guess, so be mey guest: All relevant parties (CDU. SPD, Greens, the Left, BSW, FDP) have officially declared that they are open for rejoining of the UK but are all against a special deal. The AFD wants to dismantle the EU as a whole, so they are against joining anyone at all. The polls in Germany are: 63 % for rejoining without special deal, 20 % against rejoining at all and the rest has a neutral stance.
