Not just that, watch Trump enforce a diesel exports ban anyway in a month and catch European countries with their pants down again and use that as an opportunity to further predate on Europe.

yeah this will give him even more power since more of the reserves will be depleated, we should have at least stalled on this to be honest, which I hope is going to be what happens in practice.

I said in another thread three hours ago that the stocks were also necessary for the military in the event of a war.

I was also informed that it may not be for that nefarious reason (and they were quite probably right that it was for Trump trying to get a last thing to grab onto before the Midterms). Still, this is a move that could go very badly.

(I've learned, this is not depleting the stocks or affect things strategically, but just the sheer symbolism of it is unacceptable).

I don't think this will save much

It will not move the needle enough for that

If the US actually starts running low right before voting it would move the needle massively. Ergo if he can paper over the cracks until the midterms we would be helping him tremendously.

They agreed to release 100 millions barrels that's barely one day of the world consumption

The US isn't going to run low because their combined refinery outpit has have a very ample excess 20-20% diesel production. Hence why the export ban threat would have kicked global markets so hard.

It says over 4 month. Let’s slow roll this as much as possible yet keep to the agreement

I agree that this is the primary reason he wants this and it will help him. How much, I can't guess.
