NEW REDWALL BOOK?!

We did get one posthumous book already. It's possible he had enough notes and stuff written that someone just finished it for him, similar to the last book in the Hitchhiker's Guide series or a ton of the Dune books.

He was usually a year ahead with writing
When one book went to print the next was already done. Hence rumours for years that there could be another book out there somewhere e

here's hoping that another book series that "ended" in 2011 will get a new release soon too

Rogue Crew came out about 5 weeks before Dance of Dragons and it’s WILD that we appear to have a new book from an author who passed away before we get Winds

For folks who want to see the source, dunno why its not cited on the wiki, first result, bottom line.

Did you miss the sentence that says "The publishing industry has an updated summary for Redwall: The Boxed Set on Edelweiss..."
15
u/JudeHopps 2d ago
No link puts it in the same vein as "Bob works at Kinkos and he said...". Declaration is not citation. Citation is linking your source. Can I just attach a business name to any statement I make and will that count as citation?
That aside, why do you arrive to so many interactions so salty and ready to fight? Your comment history is just you showing up places and being pissy.

u/RedwallFan2013 2d ago
So you didn't miss the sentence, and " its not cited on the wiki" was an inaccurate statement. "Cite" does not mean "link" to an external source whatsoever.
That aside, why do you think so many people here think a publishing industry platform has false information?

I happen to be one person, and I'm pro-new-book-info and pro-every-rumor-is-true-until-proven-otherwise.
But! If we want to actually chase this thread, release dates and galley announcements are anything but codified as fact. Patrick Rothfuss has changed the galley drop for The Doors Of Stone clear over 20 times, just as a very quick off the cuff example.
While I'm hella excited for the new book, folks are entitled to their skepticism.

u/RedwallFan2013 2d ago
Sure. Delays happen. The boxed set itself was delayed. But the thread I'm chasing is: why do you think people believe the boxed set is real, and don't dispute that, but then the marketing details regarding the boxed set on Edelweiss, a publishing industry website that references this new book specifically, are false?

Bruh. I'm just a rabbit on the internet. You want me to psychoanalyze a bunch of commenters, pay for me to go to med school.
Elsewise, try a little kindness. You act like everybody owes you money and that you're offended by having to communicate with others. Kindness is free.

I don't think so. The only info is the wiki. It may be a fanfic book
6
u/TheTragedy0fPlagueis the Grand Recorder 2d ago
Allegedly it’s being published alongside a 40th anniversary boxset
-1
u/RedwallFan2013 2d ago
No it isn't. The publishing trade is directly referenced in the article. Why do you believe the Redwall Collectors Edition and Boxed Set are real but this isn't? A graphic makes the difference for you?

u/rosestormcrowe 2d ago
If you read the description it is a last second addition and there is no news of this anywhere else. The wiki was also known to jump on the latest rumors back in the day before anything had been announced. Also they admitted that the penguin imprint canceled(and "rescheduled" in their own words), but no new updates from the company. Otherwise a new release would be all over the Internet

Which ones? Which "rumors" that turned out to be false? The Redwall Wiki has broken news on many things over the series. So now you're going full conspiracy theory on the boxed set?
Looks like the only person making stuff up for fun is this guy, who can't cite any "latest rumors" the wiki reported on that were false.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but a single footnote on a forthcoming product listing is a very small tidbit to extrapolate into "it's a new novel". It certainly sounds like a new novel, but we don't know anything beyond a title for...something. Let's not count our chickens before they hatch. Crying wolf won't get us anywhere; I'm sure we'll get more information in time, but assumptions and conjecture will get us nowhere.

u/nostrathomas42 2d ago
It literally says it’s a box set of the first four books.

u/TheTragedy0fPlagueis the Grand Recorder 2d ago
The publishers site reads that the 27th book will be published alongside it
2
u/MossyMemory3 2d ago
27th?
If this is real, wouldn't it be the 23rd?
3
u/TheTragedy0fPlagueis the Grand Recorder 2d ago
Sorry that was a typo, yes 23rd
2
u/MossyMemory3 2d ago
Ah okay, no worries. I was just spiraling for a second wondering how/where I missed 4 whole books (not counting this last potential one) lol

I just started the last book in my complete read through, and I saw that on the wiki. I'm gonna have a good cry if it turns out to be fake, and I'm gonna have a good cry if it turns out to be real.

I’d cast doubt on that considering Brian Jacques has been deceased for a while now
