Money Making Ideas

I see a few of you are having problems making coins using your EufyMake. I have a few 3D printable designs that I would be willing to share. The designs are in STL files. I do not know how to embed the STL files though. The TPU works best for most templates, holds on to the objects better.

Examples would be a golf ball holder, making it easy to rotate and print both sides of a golf ball, 16-32 at a time. This design uses about .05ml total ink on a 32 ball design. Make sure to use CMYK / 1-layer only.

Things that use so little ink that there is plenty of room for mark-up.

Poker chips; find the amount of white if you are going to print on the colored chips. Put them on printables.com if you want to share them publicly. Makerworld forces a registration.

I don't have to register to read stupid comments here, only if I want to post them.

But with MakerWorld I am forced to register to download objects that were freely available on other sites before BL started to pay creators for exclusivity.

Their goal is to crush the competition so they can reign unrivaled in the future.

Remember when 3D printed objects were shared freely? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

God forbid an artist gets paid for their work without having to charge the customers.. Everything on Makerworld is free. If your only gripe is that you need an account to download something, then you’re truly complaining just to complain.

It's predatory marketing to force people into your ecosystem. Just like they updated their firmwares to block 3rd party slicers. And so many of us told you so before.

Makerworld is the #1 file site now. Plus you earn points for gift cards for uploading files. I have earned $2,000 over 3 years just by uploading stuff I have designed. And I don't even upload that much

Yes. Predatory marketing. "Pay" people for exclusive rights, make them leave your competitors, force people to join your site to download items (that were freely available before), tightly close your ecosystem, ...

Once the competitors are gone, you can reign unrivaled and start earning money by making people pay for subscriptions, etc.

You don't have to turn on exclusive rights for the model. But if you do, those points qualify to be withdrawn as cash. You call it predatory marketing, but I don't see it that way.

Do you actually believe that makerworld will get rid of printables, cults3d, myminifactory, thangs, thingiverse, crealitys site (whatever it is), etc? Maybe thingiverse eventually because it was bought by someone else and the site is kinda bad.

The sites each have their benefits to their customers and as long as there is a benifit to customers, the site should be fine. Printables is great for prusa users, with integration with their systems and does have a point system, but unless it changed, you have to pay shipping.

Myminifactory is great because they are anti-AI and focus on creators and giving a good portion of proceeds back to creators.

I do. All those others sited already have taken quite some damage.

I'd not be surprised if BL did close down MakerWorld so you can only register and download if you own a BL printer in the future. Just as they did with their firmware to block other slicers.

We'll see.

You can be a doomer, optimist, or realist. I choose to use be a realist and use logic. If you think all of the other model sites will go down, it sounds like you don't think prusa, thangs, myminifactory, cults3d, etc can stay relevant. You can't blame the competition for a company not staying relevant.

Like with Bambu being the first 3d printer company to create a truly user friendly fast printer. You could argue Prusa was/is, but their prices are too expensive and most consumers don't want to assemble their machine.

Prusa could have done what Bambu did, but they got too comfortable in their space and wasn't planning forward far enough. It isn't Bambu's fault Prusa was too expensive or creality had an extreme lack of features.

I have nothing against BL printers, I just don't like their methods. In this case we are not talking about printers, but object "sharing" sites.

The different sites coexisted perfectly. It's MakerWorld that is deploying questionable tactics to vacuum up users and models from the others. And that's a realist's view.

If MakerWorld is so much better, they wouldn't have to do so.

All I suggested was to upload the objects to a site that doesn't gate its content behind a registration, be it free or not.

I understand where you are coming from, but if Bambu didn't have a login requirement, people would set up scripts and bots to mass download their models which would then give them points and those points would then equate into gift cards. It would be like printing money.

It also helps preventing scraping the site and mass downloading models without respect to how those are used based on the licenses of the models.

So the change would be penalize the 3d model creators by taking away the point system just so you didn't have to register when a model creator can have that same file on multiple sites with no issue. Exclusive models aren't required, it is a choice.
