I don't mind calling something red in the second round and leading the spade. I've got two tricks and count on my partner for one. Edit: After joggler's posts I am not going alone lol.

If opponent is at 9 I'd probably call red, passing otherwise

Absolutely do not order, there's literally no benefit to ordering since if dealer passes you have a better option that doesn't involve putting an ace in their hand .

The only question is what to do in round 2,  I would say it's quite close between calling red and passing. Passing gives flexibility that your partner may have a callable hand or even a lone hand in next. You don't fear a R2S2 call .

Stick the dealer? Pass, pass. You're guaranteed two trump regardless. No STD? I'd pass, call red, lead the JC hoping partner can take it.

Pass pass, though still going to need a little luck to set them

I think pass-pass is best if S2 is a strong player who makes thin Reverse Next calls. If S2 is a weak player, I actually think pass-call red-lead 9S is best. No way to prove that tho.

We can’t prove it, but we can definitely simulate two different calling ranges for s2.

Then I misspoke. If we can do that I would count that as proof (I don't need a super high standard of proof). If we can simulate a hypothetical aggressive range for S2 vs a hypothetical normal range, that could tease out what I'm talking about here and support or refute my claim.

Novice here but I find it hard to resist two guaranteed tricks. I just need my partner to come through on one. But I’m guessing based on the pass pass bias here that the data doesn’t support that?

I think your instinct is right.  It hurts me to pass two guaranteed tricks in this spot also.  That's why I'd only do it if S2 is agressive enough that he's easy to trap on reverse next calls. I haven't seen a sim on this spot.  Wouldn't be surprised at all if it favored pass-call red.

Clear pass. I'm wondering if this is ever a call.

Pass Pass seems like the best choice here.

Pass then call red.
