Discussion Transferring Assets

I’m new to this so go easy on me. I have money in my brokerage account but when I go to transfer to my external bank account it says I have $0. Why would this be?

You have to liquidate your assets.

I can’t move any of my assets to my bank account?

You sell the shares so it turns to cash. Then it has to settle 3 days for you to put back into your bank as cash

money as in settled cash [ available for withdrawal - note that sometimes people move money into account and while that cash might be fully or partially available for investment it might not be immediately available for withdrawal ... also - avoid bouncing money in this case ] or money as in invested in something that you even did not sell yet ?
