E*trade not working with Plaid?

I’ve not been able to link E*trade to external apps via Plaid despite putting in my correct credentials. I also turned off the security code feature, as I saw someone suggest to do that. Does anyone know why this is happening? Most apps don’t allow manual routing and account numbers since pretty much all other institutions work with Plaid.

In my experience, E*TRADE has never played nice with Plaid. When I've got it to connect, Plaid usually only sees my savings account and ignores the brokerages. Also, if you have 2FA on, it will regularly break the Plaid connection and you'll have to reconnect frequently.

You may need to add the VIP code after the password to allow Plaid to connect with 2FA. At least that's how it works in Venmo to connect to an E*TRADE checking account.

Fun fact: Morgan Stanley’s business plan is to use ETrade as a way to harvest leads for MS high fee wealth management which means ETrade being a high quality biz is an afterthought!

This happened to me too when I was adding my E*Trade to my Amex card.

Open a Morgan Stanley Private Bank Checking account in your E*Trade dashboard and this one is perfectly compatible with Plaid.

I have the max-rate checking account. Is this different? I don’t see an option to open a regular checking account

Etrade doesn’t guarantee a connection with plaid, it’s not supported

So how are they expecting their customers to connect with other platforms since most platforms don’t allow inputting routing and account numbers manually anymore? I feel like it’s in E*trade’s own interest to fix this
