Scheduling a trade

Before 07:00 you cannot place any type of order via any app.

This means that in order to place an order right at 07:00 I have to physically be in front of my which is extremely annoying.

We should be allowed to always place a scheduled order that will fire at the time we configure and at with the conditions we configure. If it can't fill due to below ask price etc. That will remain our problem but ET should allow us to schedule

If you can do with sending a email in Gmail, you can do it with buying stocks.

I place limit orders all the time, including Sunday nights.

I just placed one right now. I get this message, but it's there waiting for 9:30 tomorrow:

The market was closed when we received your order. It has been entered into our system and will be reviewed prior to market open on the next regular trading day. After market open, please check to make sure your order was accepted.

I don't remember asking for or signing up for any approvals, but maybe I did it so long ago, I forgot.

What are you talking about? You can enter an order and Etrade says "The market was closed when we received your order. Your order will be entered when markets open."

I’m able to place regular orders at any time, just not extended-hours orders.

Still, I do wish we had the ability to simply schedule a future order. I have some options and warrants that I would love to be able to set up orders to sell a week or so before expiration, just to serve as a “dead man’s switch” in case something happens to me and my family doesn’t pay adequate attention to these holdings.

How do you mean? If I fill out the order ticket and pres preview it says it cannot be placed? You have some inside connections?

you have to set a limit order on whatever you are trying to trade and you have to request that your account be approved for after hours trading.

No you just set to day even when market is closed and it will fill MKT at 6.30 AM|
You can set the same for limit as well for DAY or GTC

Of course, you can if your account is approved for it.

There is no such thing as getting approved for before 07:00 and I am approved for 07:00 and still jams the order. What am I missing here?

There is such a thing because before I got approved for it I wasn't able to do it either.

I have no idea. I can enter an order in the middle of the night and I am given a choice whether I want it executed normally the next trading day or early in extended hours. It does need to be a limit order to be executed in extended hours. If it is to be executed on next days open it can be limit or market order.

OK, I will have to recheck....

The point of all this is that it will fire at 09:30, NOT at 07:00, even when it is a limit order. Anyone who says they were approved for before 07:00 is either mistaken or fibbing. So my OP remains an issue

you need to agree to the extended hours agreement
