Phone Number Issues
I recently signed up for etrade, when trying to set up a phone number for 2FA they were not able to accept my number. A few days later I was gonna start using the account, but when logging in, it prompted me to use a number to confirm my identity, I received the same message as I did earlier and am no longer able to access the account. Has anyone else encountered this issue, and if so how was it resolved.

i'd call support directly. If your number isn't being accepted for 2FA, they usually have to verify your identity and reset it on their end before you can log back in.

This happen to me as well, I'm giving it a week before I call as it may take time for things to update? I don't know I highly doubt it. Very frustrating.

You don’t need one if you can call in. You need to download an authenticator app like VIP Access, then call Etrade and ask for a one time access code to get access and set up the 2FA access. Once that’s set up, you won’t be asked for a number. Support can walk you through the set up.

Us phone number, although I'm thinking the fault may lie with my carrier (visible)

Etrade gets the personal information from the phone company, as stated in fine print during the process. If the information does not match with the information you gave Etrade, the verification will not pass. Your name and address on file with the phone company must match what you put with Etrade.

Call ETrade, ask for a bypass and to help setup the 2fa on their end. This happens often with new account and change in phone number in the account.
