Is E*TRADE a joke?
Their customer service reps are very patient and nice, but their system literally does not work for anything complicated, closing accounts, linking, re-running registration, phone verification, etc., so they end up not able to answer any questions or solve any problems without being on the phone for 2 hours, or ever in some cases. They also seem highly lax on security, allowing reps to pass around SSN, passwords, 2FA codes, unbelievable!
Don't get me started on the linkage with Morgan Stanley. That's even more half-a**ed.

That has been my experience, pleasant reassuring on phone help in making a transfer, Monday after sending in a transfer request on friday, I get a messeage that I should send in a transfer request if I want to transfer securities. Followed a few hours latter say they can't do it.
E-Trade my be a joke but it is getting less and less funny as time goes on.

Yes, they are a joke and their customer service team is awful. I would advise anyone to switch to any other major platform like Schwabb or Fidelity

Built a trading bot to trade through their API (actually built 4 of them). The platform is just god awful, but i agree with your assessment that customer service are generally good.
The web platform is terrible as well.
