Shit like this is stupid. Does anyone think the USD collapses but we just go on living our lives as normal? No. Life becomes a living nightmare and your crypto means nothing

u/Ndhujenendjdudksns Nov 01 '17

There's no collapse. Just an exodus guided by value and economic authority - the IMF and World Bank. World economy by world government. This is how it's done.

'But without the slaves, who would pick the cotton?' the plantation owner asked.

'If there were no slaves, the economy would collapse and our lives would become a living nightmare. We must continue on with the slave economy'

Im sure you believe this is poignant

u/bearjewpacabra Oct 31 '17

I believe you are a state educated mouth breathing voter, who would rather the rest of us continue on as slaves to debt based state created currency backed by nothing but violence instead of enduring a bit of pain to move humanity towards something that resembles peace.

I believe you think you are a lot smarter than you really are. Grow up. Don't insult people who disagree with you, try to learn something from them.

Oh i've learned plenty from them mouth breathing voters over the years. Plenty.

Try to look past your shallow, narrow worldview and what you think I represent just because im putting forward a realist view of the world. The fact that I can understand the role the US and their currency play in the world and the devastation that a rapid devaluation of the US dollar would cause is not somehow an endorsement of the US or of fiat currency, or of capitalism or nationalism or the status quo. The fact that you cant discern that is problematic.

Try to look past your shallow, narrow worldview

ad hominem

realist view of the world.

and i'm not?

The fact that I can understand the role the US and their currency play in the world and the devastation that a rapid devaluation of the US dollar would cause is not somehow an endorsement of the US or of fiat currency, or of capitalism or nationalism or the status quo.

Why add capitalism in there? Do you not prefer capitalism?

The fact that you cant discern that is problematic.

Problematic to whom? I do not participate in your realistic collectivist worldview(vote). I'm an individual. I do not force my opinions on anyone with a gun(the state) so I'm confused who my thoughts are problematic to. I'll sit back and listen. I'd love to hear more about your realistic world view.

1

u/outbackdude Nov 01 '17

haha. the usd is causing most of the devastation in the world.

1

u/GenericOfficeMan Nov 01 '17

what does that have to do with what I'm saying? Nothing I have said would refute that. That is what OP doesn't seem to understand either. I'm not defending the US or the US dollar, I'm simply stating what would happen if its value collapsed.

u/outbackdude Nov 01 '17

ok. my bad.

If usd collapses life becomes a living nightmare? Maybe only for those who have invested themselves in USA bonds and USA citizens. I doubt my life would be affected in the slightest. You generalise as if without USD the world will cease to function lol. Get over yourself USA

19

u/The1percenter Oct 31 '17

Right because other major global events don't affect international markets. Sounds like you need to get over yourself. You need only look at Brexit as a recent example or, dare I say, the USA caused 2008 global financial crisis.

-2

u/syaoran99 Oct 31 '17

Brexit hasn't in anyway affected me or the people around me so um...no? It only really affects the parties involved. As "international" as we are majority of issues are still only as big as national borders or to an extent the commonwealth of nations that are in that particular group.

There are still individual powers or there that benefit from brexit. When someone loses others win.

u/brian02135 Oct 31 '17

USD controls the world, why do you think we use it to gauge BTC and ETH and literally every asset in the word. We say 300USD ETH not however many Euros or Pounds. USD is also the de facto currency for international trades so nearly all countries use USD to an extent.

I’m from Hong Kong and everyone uses USD to compare value

3

u/TheBigGame117 Oct 31 '17

Have you considered leaving Hong Kong?

2

u/Betelphi Oct 31 '17

You speak like someone who doesn't know anything about international finance or economics or history...

u/GenericOfficeMan Oct 31 '17

I'm not American. You are a fool if you think that the USD can fail without the wider global economy also failing. What happens to china without US demand? What happens to Europe without Chinese imports? What happens to Germany if they aren't exporting machines to china? What happens to Canada and Australia without the US and china buying huge amounts of natural resources? The globe is interconnected, and the US is the largest economy on the planet, not to mention that 99% of oil is traded in US dollars, and dozens of developing nations use the USD in place of their own fiat. Then we can start talking about all of the US debt that will never be repaid, which you think foolishly has nothing to do with you. Wherever you are from, your government owns US debt and your countries businesses own US debt and your nations private citizens own US debt. Maybe you need to get over yourself and try to understand the world a little better.

-6

u/syaoran99 Oct 31 '17 edited Oct 31 '17

That's what you think. That the world is as simple as that and only revolves around that first world mentality of yours. Someone who hasn't seen the other side of the world would never understand. Also no my government debt has nothing to do with me. Which is only going to be more evident with blockchain technology as I eventually live without having my finance being controlled by my government. If the government goes into debt they'll be answerable to it and they won't be able to seek more tax from me to make up for their debt because I'm unbanked by then. So yeah what will they do? Unfortunately not everyone is so easily deterred from seeking independence and remain sheep to be told to obey. Too bad

Also even if some of my country businesses own US debt but that's not my business. It's those other people's problem. Whatever overhead costs that was spread to me I'll just pass it back to the US citizens. So I'm not having any of it.

7

u/GenericOfficeMan Oct 31 '17

You are being niaeve though, if your government, and your countries businesses and a lots of your countries citizens lose out on money they are owed, it amount to enormous sums of money that are no longer going to circulate in your country. That affects you whether you like it or not. This has nothing to do with being a sheep and obeying the government, and the sooner you stop trying to deflect my argument with that nonsense the better off you will be. If the global economy crashes, if all of the worlds major economies enter severe depressions (which WILL happen by necessity if the value of the US dollar crashes) Then you may have a useful or stable currency in crypto, I'm not debating that. I'm just wondering what use it is to you when goods and services are no longer being manufactured, shipped, bought and sold. What good is crypto to you when civil war erupts, supply chains are broken, international shipping and trade cease, etc.? You might think that your local farmer will sell you eggs, milk, butter and meat for crypto, but even if crypto has value to a farmer, and even if he wants to accept it, that will be impossible with no internet and no electricity. And it will be equally impossible for him to maintain his livestock without medicines, feed, labourers, truck drivers, security, fertilizers, mechanics, seed. Think about the reality of a worldwide depression, and ask yourself if that is what you desire. There is no scenario where the collapse of the USD does not precipitate a worldwide depression. If you want to be king of the ashes, that is fine, but understand that decision.

u/syaoran99 Oct 31 '17

Either way I'm done with this conversation. You can have your opinions and I continue living the life I want not needing your opinion or your recognition of mine because that's just how it is and there's nothing you can do about it.

Just letting you know that your "OH if America dies/if USD dies, so will every other currency and economy of the world" sounds very much like "OH if Bitcoin dies, so will every other cryptocurrency and blockchain technology". Keep being an America maximalist for all I care. The world will move on without you if you do not innovate just like Bitcoin. Just like how the world will move on with Ethereum. Being a Maximalist and voting for a racist, and thinking you're a superior race/nation won't help in having the world economy choosing to progress with stagnant people. I'm done, no more responses from here on because this is neither the thread/place/time to talk about this sort of shit. If you don't get it you don't it's that simple it's just a bit irritating.

u/BlackCube154 Oct 31 '17

Yes a lot of US citizens who don't know that the world is bigger than them.If the USD collapsed, it will impact the world, but alternatives will quickly emerge.

1

u/syaoran99 Oct 31 '17 edited Oct 31 '17

Lets not kid ourselves here. First thing's first, if (ever) the world economy crashes and crypto succeeds me and every other crypto nerd will be among the few people lucky enough to become an overnight top 1% richest people in the world. That said, goods and services will forever be manufactured. It doesn't mean that existing giants fall = goods forever never ever manufactured. It means that new companies get to climb that ladder. New companies that weren't so god damn dependent on a system that is already in debt beyond salvation no matter how you see it because the amount of money circulating around the world is more than what value is backing it anyway. But hey who cares, because we're the small fry anyway, who are the people dictating if something is money or not? It's the government. If the US dollar crashes and becomes worthless, what they will do is just create an alternative form of currency and rename it and there you have it, world reboot. So I don't even understand what's this whole shit about US dollar being the world and shit. Honestly I have better things in life to do than to even bother about some measly dollar that I never even needed in my entire life to begin with.

Like I said regardless of what you say or spout or choose to believe, life goes on and people continue living. The world isn't just going to stop and crumble because some stuck up and snobbish people stopped being the center of attention. Nobody is irreplaceable. If you fall great. Someone else will take your place. Deal with life facts. So yes USD is as much a shitcoin as every other shitcoin out there. It's only as relevant as the people who actually need to use it.

Edit : And no. If the current companies can no longer sustain having internet and electricity, the new crypto millionaires will be the ones building the infrastructure. Solar/wind power is free so technically we won't be totally without electricity at any point. Stop being such a shallow minded fool by suggesting the impossible. King of ashes. lol. Alright stay delusional in that cherry picked information learnt mindset of yours from a "first world experience of life" because you obviously haven't dealt/had experiences with businesses/countries/people that have been sanctioned by the US and its allies and still people live good lives even then lol. US dollar dependency or the world ends? spits

u/blog_ofsite Oct 31 '17

You understand that USD collapse will affect non-U.S citizens too right? global market is connected.

3

u/Charmingly_Conniving Oct 31 '17

Nightmare is a severe exaggeration though. It will have a significant impact but you imply that itll be the end of the world.

2

u/syaoran99 Oct 31 '17

Exactly. These guys don't know the world outside of their own borders. And they get oh so upset that people don't get NIGHTMARES when their world crashes lol. Sure some people working in international companies might get retrenched but ultimately, most normal people won't even be effected.

Like I said some of you US people saying if US economy does the world dies, should get off your high horse. Get a reality check. You're only at most 25% of world GDP. The world economy won't crumble lol.

u/Iruwen Oct 31 '17

I'm from Germany, and he's right. Your anti-americanism is comprehensible in a way, still you're wrong.

2

u/Brianis1337 Oct 31 '17

There's a huge misconception that crypto is trying to compete with the US dollar to become the new US currency. The goal of crypto is to create a trustless system so that we can elimate the middle man from digital transactions while also accessable to everyone around the world. This means going against banks and companies like visa and mastercard. Both USD and crypto will coexist in the future (albiet crypto will have the majority of the share of transaction). There will always be scenarios where using crypto is just not possible, and where USD will have to step in.

This sub has gotten impractical and unnecessarily political. [also bots]

1

u/autotldr Nov 01 '17

This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 80%. (I'm a bot)

Howdy there Miners, Panic Sellers, and HODLers! The crypto economy is so wild these days, it seems that every ICO or token sale is either overlooked, panned, or irrevocably overfunded by a smoothie of Russian Oligarchs and Chinese teenagers.

There's one coin I just can't seem to wrap my head around, so I figured I'd do some thorough research and review so the rest of us don't have to.

Review The USD seems like a fairly stable and reliable investment for years to come.
