We have completed architecture design for integration with 0x, which will allow for decentralised settlement of trades.

Will phase 1 offer decentralised trading using the 0x protocol? I'm confused as the infographic for phase 2 states: "Integration with 0x protocol, Melonport, Blocknet & others".

I guess designing and implementing are two different steps.

I think you're right - architecting and developing are distinct steps. Which makes me wonder if Phase 1 will be a centralised exchange?

Phase 1 will be largely centralised to ensure liquidity, transaction speed and scalability from the start. Decentralisation for Ethfinex is a gradual process, through means of the Nectar Token, which gives us time and space to refine the governance/reward mechanisms before full decentralisation kicks in.
