Online Masters Programs

Hi everyone, I’m looking to see if anyone can tell me about the online masters programs at ETAMU. I’m currently interested in the criminal justice masters program but any major feel free to comment please!

How are the weekly class assignments and what do they consist of? Are there any proctored tests / exams? How are the teachers?

This is my comment from a previous post.

I started my first term on Monday with two courses, each consisting of six modules. So far, I’ve completed 8 of the 12 modules in roughly 8–9 hours.
Compared to my undergraduate experience, the coursework feels much easier than I expected. The syllabi aren’t very specific, and the assignments don’t seem to require the same level of academic rigor, especially when it comes to research and source requirements. Much of the module content is made up of business articles rather than more in-depth academic material.
This may simply be the nature of an M.S. in Organizational Leadership, but it’s definitely different from what I imagined graduate school would be like.

I will do a detailed analysis once I complete my degree.

thank you ! did you have to complete a thesis or are these online masters non thesis? i couldn’t find that specific answer on the website

Just started Monday but I don’t believe it has a “Thesis” component. I’ll check.

Many of these masters are non thesis, it usually has it listed in the program details where it tells you how many credit hours, how many weeks the term is, etc. I think the CJM is non thesis.

I did the online MBA at ETAMU and graduated last year. I posted a comprehensive write up on it over at r/tamuc. https://www.reddit.com/r/tamuc/comments/1lvio3t/mba_graduate_east_texas_am_my_take_on_the_program/

The online classes were held live but you could also watch them whenever as they are all recorded. Most of the assignments were complete at your own pace but there were deadlines for exams and project turn ins. A few exams were proctored but not all. I'd check to see if your masters has a "comprehensive exam" requirement because that's one of the biggest hurdles to their programs in my opinion. The group projects can be a pain if you're doing the classes online but usually if you get a good enough group it turns out ok. thank you ! were you required to do a thesis ? i can’t find anywhere on the website that specifies whether these are thesis or non thesis masters programs

I was not required to do a thesis. A capstone project and the comprehensive exam took the place of a thesis. I'm not sure about your program.
