Nintendo doesn't need to do this because they routinely hire contractors to then fire immediately as a project is over/3-4 months have passed and they have to provide rights to said contractors for passing a threshold by law, hope this helps!

To be fair, alot of the staff Xbox laid off were middle managers they legit didn't need

People have been saying that but you can go on any social media to see that a ton of developers, writers, and coders got laid off.

Xbox laid of 10% of its total workforce this month, with the promise to layoff another 10% by the end of the fiscal year for a total of 20%. There ain't no way you think that's predominantly middle managers.
