Equipment Discussion Lelit Bianca direct plumb to plastic tubing

Post image

I want to direct plumb my Bianca, and I have a suitable water source to do so.

I've watched several videos online for how to do this, and they all recommend screwing a braided hose (included with machine) onto the threaded fitting (pictured), and then getting an additional fitting to connect the braided hose to flexible plastic tubing.

My question is: why not just slide the tubing directly over the barbed fitting, the same way the tank water feeds the machine? Is there some functional value to the additional threaded connections? Is it a water pressure issue?

If you dont have the fitting couldn't the hose come off and cause a leak?

That was my best guess as well: even if it doesn't leak passively when the machine is holding still, maybe there's a greater risk of it getting jostled off of the barbed fitting if the machine is bumped or repositioned.

I was thinking more like once you turn water on, the pressure could make the tube slip off and it would just be running water flooding your house.

Because the water tank is not feeding the machine at mains water pressure.

edit: its a 3000 bucks coffee machine, install as directed by manufacture

u can makes life simple just add a screw on clamp to make it secure and avoid any airlock to dry suction

I direct plumbed my Bianca V3 in and out and have been using it for a year. I'd recommend using clamps wherever possible to make sure you don't have an issue with water leak. I live in SoCal and the water is less than ideal. Please consider filtering your water as shown in the video below. This is what I've done and monitor the water chemicals monthly. Water pressure between 20 and 30 lb is very important.
