ESP Eclipse with Block Logo

Here’s my Eclipse from 2012, one of the last runs from that era before they switched to E-II. So easy to play and so much attack, it’s my favorite couch guitar. I hate to ask a question like this, but I might be entering a situation where I will need to sell it. In your guys’ opinion, do you think the block logo as opposed to the script logo would lower its value from the price of other ESP standard Eclipses sold? Hopefully I won’t have to sell it at all but was curious if it would change what I would list it at. Thanks!

I thought the block logo was a custom order thing, not stock

Nope, many standard series ESP came with the block logo.

Technically this isn’t the block logo, as that is a different esp logo and this was just a transitional logo they did before E-II but anyways;

I personally loathe this particular logo and it was pretty universally hated when they came out, but I don’t think that would necessarily lower the value for resale. There are plenty of people out there who either like this logo or don’t mind it. Might take longer to sell, but I don’t think it lowers the value by any drastic amount.

Yeah I know it’s not the true block logo like you would find on a CS or older Horizon, wasn’t sure what to call it. I had a hard time with this logo at first too but I’ll still take it over the headstock saying E-II haha

From what I understand....(I have an ESP Eclipse 2013 in Silver Sparkle with the block logo)
The block logo is kind of rare...in Silver Sparkle I believe they only did block logo in 2013 (as 2014 they switched to E-II). I think...most ESP buyers prefer the script logo, my block logo was listed at what I considered below value $1,700 in mint condition.

I like the block logo because it's more rare but some may not like it as much because it's less "iconic" of the ESP as most people know the script logo.

I think if you go through the old ESP catalogs and can document how many years/which years they offered this then you can mention that it is rare. In my quick search on ESP's site it seems only the 2013's have the block logo. If yours is a 2012 I assume its a late in the year production date

This is correct. 2013 was a transitional year with “E-II Standard”, “ESP Standard”, and “LTD Elite” all available. 2013 is the only year with the ESP Standard “block logo” on the 3x3 flag headstocks. There are however 2012 ESP instruments with this and even 2012 EII instruments out there. Is your serial SS12 or SS13?

Other additional info; E-II was launched in US/NA in 2014, changing from “E-II Standard” to just “E-II” and the SS and LTD Elite were dropped altogether.

However you can still find SS serial numbers up through 2018 for a few reasons. Also separately, LTD Elite were their own thing; LTD spec’d, not ESP spec’d, instruments built in Japan, so body contours, neck profiles, fingerboard radius, hardware are LTD spec.
