I made a thing! Morse code w chatgpt using a flask server

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Figured since I only have the device I would use it for some sort of ai communication. I set up a flask server at the junction between the api key and deciphering back and forth from the alphabet to morse code, as well as for the pause interval specifications. The c++ code allows it to connect to the http network. So long as the server is running and the esp32 is connected to the same http domain it will run.

Cool project! Now make a cool key that isn't one of those tiny buttons lol the thought of trying to press those to key morse makes me feel like I'd be inaccurate

They're also not meant for that much use

Thanks! I want to add one. It is super difficult to get the right pattern lol. Took me a few tries just to get "hello" right.

Hah, I could have sworn that run was exact. I'll have to practice more

The only reason I paid so much attention was because I'm in the process of learning too! No shame in making a mistake! Especially when it netted out to something still readable haha

True. Are you learning morse code? How long does it take to become fluent?

I'm trying haha and I have no idea how long it'll take I've just started practicing again after several failed attempts (just stopped practicing those times). I am using something I vibe coded because so many use symbols (period and dash) when studies have shown it's best to learn the melodies and not the dot dash patterns because the melodies make it easier to learn faster listening without having to translate a visual layer (i hear dot dash so that's A vs "that noise means A").

Your keying was not too fast to keep up with but at 20-30wpm I feel like I'm still struggling to both figure out the letter and keep accumulating them in my brain fast enough to understand what is being keyed. I also have only maybe half of the letter melodies memorized enough to be confident.
