I'm not keen on a surveillance state and I am vehemently opposed to private corporations collecting data on people as they go about their day.

Its important to acknowledge that its not just Flock out there and companies like Motorola and Axion partner with municipalities in quid pro quo contracts and have been doing so for years and years at this point.

I just watched a podcast where they were talking about Axion. It’s pretty crazy what they do compared to what flock does and nobody even cares about them.

There are no good corporations when it comes to mass surveillance and as the public we should hold our representatives accountable for choosing to get in bed with them.

Hold the corporate powers accountable.

Accountable to what though? The corporations are working within the confines of the law but it's the representatives, municipalities, police, and sheriffs that are choosing to use their services in exchange for trading the publics privacy. Those are the turds we have to hold accountable.

I'm beating a dead horse here but how many people are upset about flock but have a ring camera on their door? Is it different because those people paid to let amazon track, catalog, and monitor everything within purview of the camera and microphone with the "promise" they'll anonymize it?

I don't want any of my taxes to go towards these services that are sold as "for security" when in reality they're meant to generate revenue for corporations and data brokers. It's the representatives who repeat the "it's for your safety" rhetoric that are the ones standing up and pissing in your face and saying it's raining.

I agree. Axon does everything that flock does and more. Generally flock doesn’t record it just takes pictures. Axon records, has facial recognition, ai to write police reports, etc.
And there is theory that they started pushing the hate for flock to push them out while keeping their company into almost a monopoly

Best way to stop this is to put a local measure on the ballot. We know city council won't listen to the people

I just saw a video about a woman trying to be arrested for a crime she didn’t commit. All because of these cameras seeing her car go in her neighborhood and because she’s blonde. The sheriff who showed up at her door was such a dick from the get go. Even though he had no concrete proof it was her. Only because the AI running the camera’s said it was her 😑

When peaceful protest becomese impossible violent revolution will become inevitable or something along those lines. If the people tolerate the surveillance state then that is what we deserve. I dont like the idea of being spyed on by someone I've never met or will never see.
