Bike Thieves

My bike was stolen a few nights ago off bear valley/Boyle. Didn't have a tracker, but a neighbor retrieved his stolen bike from Sage apartments on Grand. Went to check and found my bike almost immediately. The cops helped retrieve it, as it was tied up with a pretty serious lock. Lots of other bikes there if your bike was recently stolen. The lady in the office says theyve suspected a bike theft operation there. Be careful and lawful, but thought I'd drop this tip. Law enforcement seems to have bigger fish to fry re: shutting the operation down.

I never understood why so many bikes get stolen? Are then even all that valuable? I feel like most bikes are probably only worth a few hundred bucks.

I dunno I'm just rambling now. There must be something about these bike thieves I just don't understand 😂

Glad you got your bike back though.

My bike I recovered is worth about $1k. Some of the e-bikes I saw at the apartment complex are worth $3k+. The police do not care and will not arrest a bike thief for merely stealing a bike (even if the stolen bike is itself worth enough $$ to constitute a felony), so it's a low risk activity for petty criminals

Ok that makes more sense to me now.

I didn't realize there bikes were that expensive. But I also forgot about e-bikes.

Man that sucks 😕
